I bought the Power Air Fryer XL as the TSV.  I used it for the first time today and when I took out the basket to shake the food, I had a hard time getting the basket back in.  I felt resistance and it wouldn't stay closed.  I had to push the handle against something to keep it from turning off.  I had no trouble with it earlier in the day, but had trouble the second time I used it.  Is it defective, or am I doing something wrong?

I just checked the reviews and other people are having the same problem.

I hope you are able to package it up and send it back within the 30 days!  I really wanted this fryer (but wanted the bigger one) so didn't order.  I was looking at the bigger Power Fryer in Sams Club just the other day and wanted it!  One of the workers there answered a question I had and then volunteered the fact that Sam's Club gets this fryer back ALL the time since it went out on the floor!

I was so surprised!  So sorry this happened to you, very disappointing.  Be sure you mark it as defective, and you may want to call CS and talk to them about it too, so they flag your account and not charge you return shipping.

My advice (and this is what I do when something happens that's not my fault) is to call Customer Service with the white slip in hand so you can give them order number, etc.

They will write it down and ask you if you want them to send you a receipt that won't cost you anything to send it back.  QVC is very good about taking things back.

Even if you no longer have the box they will still accept it back (they have for me with Dyson, etc).  If you don't have the box send it back anyway, but please call customer service first.

Sorry this happened to you.  That is one of the few things I didn't order.  It just didn't make sense to me that it would work.

I thought I was doing some wrong!!  I tried French fries, opened it half way through and had a very hard time getting the basket back in.  It took many attempts, actually slamming it in before it went back in.  Guess this will be going back.

I checked out a lot of reviews on different sites for this air fryer, because DH and I had been discussing getting one.

One recurring issue seemed to be exactly what the OP has described.  Some people said they had to let the basket cool a bit before they could reinsert it.  To me that made no sense at all and seemed like it would get annoying really fast.

I passed on ordering it and figure we'll just continue to cook things the way we have been.

I have a cooks essentials air fryer.  The basket slides in, with no effort, after opening during cooking.  I think I'd try it again and if it does it again, return it.

Seems like when this was first discussed, people mentioned inserting the basket at an angle.

I saw those reviews also.  Luckily, my TSV Power Air Fryer works like a charm.  I've used it several times now and no problems at all with the basket or anything.  I love it.

I had the same trouble, too, until my husband helped me figure it out.  You need to tilt it slightly upward when you put the basket back in to make it fit.  (I wish it would have say that in the instruction).
