Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Hi, everyone,

We got home from vacation on Monday, and since then it has been so busy here.

We took the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria, and enjoyed 4 days in Victoria.

We had a great time.  Since we did not have our car, we did a lot of walking!  But that is fun, and all that exercise is a good thing, especially since we enjoyed so many delicious meals!

We loved our high tea at the Gatsby Mansion.  We were seated on the front porch with a gorgeous view of the harbor.

We loved visiting fisherman's warf and also a castle!  The hop on hop off double decker tour bus took us to the castle.  We want to go back to Victoria again!

We visited an old time general store on the Washington coast, and they had Fiesta!  No purchases for me though.  I would have been interested in a couple small oval platters, I just have one in white.  They had the medium size, which I love, but I have enough.

I will get caught up here, and hope to post more later.

Oh, @shoekitty, I see where you mentioned church.  We are very busy during this time, helping with the ministry.  We are having an overnight trip for those who want to take part, and we are looking forward to that in a couple weeks.  We also want to plan a workday soon, with breakfast served at the church, then the work projects.

You mentioned the heat wave.  Yes, that can happen around these parts!  That may have been when we were away.  We generally have mild temps, but it can get hot too.  Hot here is in the 80's!  Our coastal temp can be so much cooler than inland, even 40 miles inland.

Is your surgery coming up soon?  Take care, shoekitty!

@oceantown  Sounds like you had a great trip!  Welcome back.

@Meezerpleezer  Thanks for your thoughts; now I think I'm just getting sick or maybe it's allergies; lots of sneezing and still hot & cold flashes.

Everybody have a great weekend!

@oceantown  Welcome back.  Sounds like you have a lovely trip.  You find the most interesting shops on your travels!

@shoekitty  Can't wait for your thoughts on the color on Monday especially since you have all the colors in fruit bowls.

@kutira I hope that you feel better soon.  Nothing worse than nasty hot weather and being sick at the same time.

@wismiss  Stop by sometime.  We miss you.

Enjoy your weekend, ladies!

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

@kutiraOh man!! Hot weather and being sick, oh I hope it passes soon

@oceantown  the church cleaning sounds like a plan.  Camping is fun!  I saw this recipe on foodnetwork a while back, and gave it to church for Bible School kids on last day camp out!!   I think would be great for an evening BBQ, a day at the Beach or camping.

Have an area with toppings like you would a banana split,  Choco chips, butterscotch chips,  sliced strawberries, can of whipped cream, nuts, marshmallows, granola maybe.

Everyone takes a piece of foil and a banana.  Cut the skin on the banana like a baked potato on the curved part of banana, then squueze it a bit like a baked potato,, take spoon and slice, and mash banana down a bit, place a few tiny marshmallows, berries, a few choco chips and nuts on banana. wrap in foil and place in fire or on grill or even an oven for a bit.  Carefully removed foil from fire, place on plate, open up and dress with a bit of whip cream, more nuts or syrup  Whatever.  I tried it in oven and I made them lower calorie with a dot of yougurt in place of whip cream!!  It was so good.  The cooked banana with cokked berries and choco chips is so good.

The kids had teacher place on grill.  They turned it a couple times.  They were in love!!

@marky  Glad you bought it and love it.  I saw this pattern this morning with Claret in it.  I think that it is pretty, too:
