Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Jenn27--I think that you "need" the Belk exlusive 9 oz. covered square box which you could use for spices, salt or whatever. Too Cute!

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Yesterday I received my marigold gusto bowl and it has a minor flaw on the bottom, near the white circular bottom rim. It is very small and doesn't show when the bowl is upright. I'm wondering if it will affect the durability of the bowl. The flaw doesn't really bother me. and I'd like to keep it, but I don't want it to get bigger and maybe have the glaze start coming off.

Can someone tell me if a very small white, unglazed

spot will affect the durability of the bowl.

TIA

Meezerpleezer, I adore that little box! That, and some rice bowls are next on my list.{#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Hi Divine--I know that I just "need" to get one. They only come in 4 colors: Scarlet, Peacock, Lemongrass and Sunflower.

As for the glaze skip, I don't know for sure. I have a piece where the glaze is missing, same as you, near the bottom ring. The piece is the sugar bowl so it hasn't been an issue. My meezer's water bowl has a color glaze skip in the rim but the clear is still there. It hasn't been a problem at all.

Here are my thoughts, though. The big and square bakers do NOT have a glazed bottom. They go in the oven and get a workout and nothing happens. The only caveat that HL has is to NOT soak the dish in water because unglazed ceramics are porous. You can hand wash them like I do or put them in the dishwasher. Just allow a little time to let the ceramics dry out. I haven't had a problem nor have I heard of any other Fiestanista having a problem with the unglazed bottoms. Since both of our pieces have small unglazed areas and probably neither one is destined to be used to bake food in the oven, I would assume that if the mark doesn't bother you, then the piece should be OK.

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Thanks for the info Meezer! Great advice! Since I'm not going to be baking in the gusto bowl, just serving in it, I'm not going to worry about it. It's really a small spot...probably no more than a couple centimeters. I'm not sure if there's any clear glaze over the spot..I don't think so. I'll have to go check that out. I really wish this bowl was "perfect" because I paid more for it because of it being limited now. I do like having a few pieces of the marigold and at least it arrived unbroken. Yay!

I'm really wanting one of those little lidded boxes in peacock; maybe even in lemongrass.Smile We'll see. I've been on an ordering frenzy these past few days, so I think I'd better pace myself or a while. ha..ha..

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Hi, Everyone.

Jenn, I do like poppy in the role of an accent color, and have to agree with you that deviled eggs would look very pretty on poppy. And, you lemongrass jam jar would look nice with your mother's handiwork. The two would accent each other nicely.

I have the square piece from Belk's. I love it. I keep my sea salt in it next to the stove with a little spoon. It would also be nice in the bathroom (my vanity doesn't have a large enough counter) or on your bedroom dresser to hold trinkets. I love the shape and designs on it.

Divine: How disappointing that your gusto bowl has a skip in the glaze. My replacement gusto bowl has been shipped and now I wonder if it will have a flaw or not. This last lot of marigold seems to have problems with either shipping or manufacturing.

Now here is a spoon that you need for the Belk's piece if you use it for salt. Isn't that the cutest little spoon?

Divine--Flamingo is the personal choice of my meezer, Claudia. Her food and water bowls are in Flamingo.--LOL

Gloria--I like the handled plate. I have always thought that it was very pretty. I wish it was "flatter" so that it could be used as a cake plate. This is kind of interesting too:

3x the Serving Space

Well, today, I went with Mr. Meezer to the doctor's office in another town. They have Baby Belk's (small Belks store) there. Mr. Meezer actually found a salad plate in Evergreen! We bought it so now he has a plate to match his cup. He is thrilled.

I saw that on the Macy's site. I like it, too!

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Fiesta Ladies--I decided to go to the horse's mouth and ask HL if they will be having any new store exclusives. Here is what they wrote:

We have a few exclusive items for you this year. Macy's has a 3 pc. Salad Set coming soon and also has a 4 pc. Mixed Color Entertaining Set (consisting of a Bread Tray with 3 Bouillons), which is available now. Kohl's also has a new set available now- a 5 pc. Condiment Serving Tray Set (4 Bouillons resting in a Napkin Tray).

I know that we have all see the Kohls and the other Macys entertaining set. It isn't much to write home about. Any of us, could do the same thing with the pieces that we already have AND it would be in the colors that we personally love. I have a feeling that the yet-to-be-released salad set is the one that 3d (I think) posted over a month ago. Gee whiz! I am not too enthused. I sure hope that on Fiesta's 85th birthday, they have no only a smashing color but a re-introduction of some pre-86 pieces. Since HL seems to be focusing on entertainment, it would be nice to re-release the mustard/mayo jar with a spoon or the covered cream soup bowl or something else along those lines.

ETA: picture of the 3 piece salad set, top right Fiesta Macy's Exclusives

This set is really only a mixing bowl and 2 bamboo + color handles. Not too much creativity put into these store exclusives.

Re: Still Buying Fiestaware (aka Fiestaware thread, Part 2)

Didn't someone post about fiesta coming out with new non serving pieces too? I think I remember a new mug and a few other things, I was excited about those. I don't really care for the pieces posted above, they seem to lack effort, I prefer the shape/style of the older pieces.
