Re: Stainless steel backsplash

We have stainless steel appliances and don´t have fingerprints or smudges. Ours are only two years old. I know the old time ones show everything and are hard to keep clean.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

I don't have a stainless back splash although I do have a section behind an area where my pots hang, for that area it works because essentially it is covered by the pots.  After hating every backplash I have had from "faux" brick in the early 70's, different tiles, and even wallpaper I fianlly settled for corian.  It was used for countertops but I chose a white with minor flecks to use as my backsplash.  They thought I was crazy but as the man installed he said he was surprised.  It is bright and easy to clean.  If I ever did another house/kitchen, I would do it again.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

but wouldn't one solid sheet of surface be easier to clean than a bunch of tile with grout lines??? I have no problem keeping my SS appliances clean--just part of my night time ritual of doing dishes. I kind of like the  idea-----I have stupid oak moulding and painted walls as my backsplash and I HATE that!!!

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

nah, can't see the grease. just get a wet dish rag with the scrubby side on one side, add few drops of Palmoive , Joy, etc. if bothers me. Clean it once a yr. maybe

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

@godi   Yep - told my husband when we finished re-doing our kitchen, the SS goes both the fridge & range. So done with this look, we went back to white as in the 'kitchen' part we have lighter charcoal walls from floor to about 5.5ft high. The rest of the walls and ceiling are a very very soft grey with white fridge and range, small side bar against the walls, looks great! In the pantry where the very old ss 2 basin sink is and 34 cupborads (yes I said 34!!!), walls are still a light grey (a tad darker than walls/ceiling). The backsplash is a tri-color charcoal, lighter grey, and mercury-like tile which I absolutely love! And I will say, no spots ever show up on the tile, so easy peasy to just wipe off with a damp cloth.

The white appliances are about 4 years old now, look like we just got them yesterday. Again so easy to take care of and keep clean. When the burners get dirty I make a little paste of vinegar & baking soda, takes about 10 minutes to clean up to sparkle again!  Love my kitchen!

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

Absolutely not !  Can you imagine the cooking grease and splashes ?  I think the entire stainless steel fad will soon end.  Its not warm or inviting.  Thankfully i have a 27 year old Amana refrigerator still functioning in almond.  So much nicer than the current stuff on the market and blends in with the country rustic look that I adore.  Stainless steel is a nightmare to clean. Its a fad.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

If it is panels of REAL stainless steel, not the grey "stainless colored material" they put on most appliances than it will be a cinch to keep clean.
