Re: Stainless steel backsplash

Dont have it, but my guess is that it would not be able to keep clean.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

It's hard enough to keep SS appliances clean. A backsplash would be worse.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

I considered it! However, I'm very practical with design; I struggle with finding the perfect deal balance of aesthetics and practicality (ie. low maintenance).  I didn't go for it because (as others said), it's difficult enough to keep appliances streak free. I do like the look of it, but I know the first time I splattered sauce all over the back I'd spend an evening cursing and trying to get it clean and streak free.

But, I'm a bit type A with things such a fingerprints, streaks, etc.  Also to consider, if you don't get a lot of natural sunlight, keeping it spotless may not matter (as it may not show based on your lighting).

I have a hard time keeping my fridge clean let alone a backsplash. When this fridge goes no more stainless for me!

@Shelbelle   When I renovated my kitchen 12 years ago I  did a mirrored backsplash. I find it very easy to keep clean. My kitchen is spotless. All these years later I still get lots of compliments.

Yes, we do have a stainless steel backsplash which is approimately 2 feet high from the counter to the bottom of the cabinets.  The condo we bought had been renovated and that's what was there.  I like it.  We also have stainless steel appliances and I don't find it a problem keep them clean.   I love the way the backsplash looks.  It is similar to this:

I admire your cleaning skills, but I have been in housekeeping 45 years and still find mirrors very hard to keep looking good.

Re: Stainless steel backsplash

@Shelbelle   Could it have something to do with the quality of the mirrors? Because I also have mirrored backsplashes in all 3 of my bathrooms & they are very easy to clean. No streaks or pitting at all. I got all the mirror work done around the same time.I remember paying extra for some sort of glass treatment but can't remember the details.
