I totally get what you are doing. I too, am being very disciplined in using or saving my groceries!

While I don't have any Spam in my pantry, I applaud you pre-thinking your Easter ham!  Desperate times...... (you know the rest!)

A few decades ago I had a friend who would tell us this story - one of his sweet childhood memories...

His mother would take one and put it in a shallow pan, poke a bunch of cloves into it, then bake it in the oven.  The kids would watch it through the oven window in anticipation of dinner time.

I always thought that was kind of cute.  But still, no Spam for this chicken!  Smiley Very Happy

My folks used to love to make Spam sandwiches when  Iwas a kid in the 50's with sliced white bread with oleomargarine smeared thick on it & thick slabs of Spam between the slices.  Totally grossed me out!

I couldn't even stand that sucking sound it made as it came out of the can with all that jellied slimey goop around it!  ::shudder::

I think Spam is one of those things you either love or hate & I'm solidly in the latter category!

@drizzellla,

No, the Spam does not have to be heated/cooked prior to making the sandwich filling.

I haven't had Spam since I was a kid.  Once in a while my mom would get it for us as a treat.  We kids liked it fried up wih eggs.

I have a couple of cans in the cupboard now,   Just in case.....

@Cats3000 Spam can be prepared like baloney salad. It is Pretty Tasty at times for a quick sandwich.
