Nitpickers are the ones I want to drop kick. If they don't agree with you it will be like a political statement that gets blown out of proportion.

@MEM22

I know what you mean.  I started a thread on Community Chat about my frustration with facebook yesterday  and WWIII broke out

My opinion is that it is still very easy to be anonymous on any board. No one really knows who you are. People are hypocritical. The can pretend to be nice to your face in real life, but show their true colors when their identity is hidden. There are times that I want to respond to a comment on here, then I think twice and realize, why bother. It probably isn't worth the criticism that I may encounter.

@WSfan Sometimes it is good to find a group that you have things in common and that you can agree to disagree.

Or is it that there are some otherwise decent people who respond to thesocial restraints of face to face communications but are unfettered on anonymous chat boards and use that time to unleash their Tazmanian Devils?

It ABSOLUTELY AMAZES ME when someone with whom I've enjoyed sharing a reasonable and interesting subject in one thread releases an absolute SLASH in another post. Sometimes I wonder if such posts reflect a TOTAL INABILITY to place oneself in the position of one who is being slammed.

There are some very few, probably less than 5, posters who do NOTHING BUT SLASH, and for them, you can choose to take them at their word, and read them or not, but there are also posters who are the "agree to disagree" folks who typically post interesting comments and then veer wildly into territory that is well established as violation of community standards, and/or screamingly subjective (ugly, clown, bag lady, sloppy, etcetcetcetcetcetc).

I wonder in such situations if people DELIBERATELY CHOOSE to violate community standards or DELIBERATELY CHOOSE to hurt feelings.

AND AS I SAY ALL THE TIME "I DO appreciate OPINIONS and totally honor one's ABSOLUTE RIGHT to express them, but I ABHOR language that uses insult adjectives or imagery". Such conduct is beneath most if not all the people who post here. Using language to be unkind is a deliberate choice.

I just ignore all of the negative stuff too.I hope the negs don't mind but I see no reason to play with them if they want to be mean.

I feel so bad for the folks that painstakingly type a favorite recipe, only to have it ripped to shreds with comments like"heart attack on a plate" or.."I wouldn't feed that to my dog!"..or "WHO eats that way?"

yes, people can get downright mean, even on a kitchen board...

To answer your question; there is a class of person who gets a feeling of reward by stomping on someone anonymously; they might stomp on your joke (That's NOT funny. Yeah. Yeah, it pretty much was.) Or they put in some snark. It's just a weak power move on their part.

Best to ignore them. Any other response feeds their weak aggression. Be glad you dont know them personally.

I believe that.  If you want to get depressed Community Chat is what you must read.  Those women thrive on death and dieing on that forum.  All news tragedies are posted there.  It's ridiculous.

You are so right!

Some people do not care about hurting others until one day something happens to them or a love one and then they wonder.. What did I do to deserve this?

Words hurt it brings tears to the soul of a good person.  By the way no on is perfect but we can learn from each other if our mind and heart is open.

A lot of women on this board are also on the Chat board, and no, we don't focus on death etc.  That's a terrible thing to say.
