It's hard to believe it's been 9 years since a Chinese giant pork processor bought Smithfield Foods, and I stopped buying its products. But I was craving a BLT this week, and it was the only low salt bacon available for my curbside order. Always curious, I went to the SmithfieldFoods.com website just to see what's new. I thought I'd share some of its brands FYI:

Eckrich     Nathan's Hot Dogs      Farmer John     Farmland     Armour     Carando     Cook's      Curly's      Gwollney     Healthy Ones     John Morrell     Kreischmar     Margherita     Pure Farmland              Old Country Store

and many more listed on the website.

We all make our own decisions for our own reasons.

think Tyson is not Asian owned.  I could be wrong.  But I don't think so.  Woman Wink

Tyson Foods is located Springdale, AR.  They also own many familiar brands.

However, they do have operations worldwide:

Tyson China/Korea

Tyson Asis Pacific

Tyson Europe

Mainstream Holding Limited owns the majority of Tyson. The balance is owned by Chinese member (I do not know what that term means.) Googled Mainstream Holding Limited and was confused by its description. It sounds like one of those large private equity firms.

In addition to Tyson, Mainstream Holding Limited also owns Jimmy Dean, Hillshire Farms, Ballpark, Wright, Aidell's, and State Fair.

I will not buy any Smithfield Foods items. The corporation is owned by China. Do better QVC

ThAnks for update.  Disappointed that Nathan's under that corp.  Rethinking my hotdogs.

I so wish we would put a stop to these foreign controls.  I will not support food products from China.

Many local butchers offer homemade hot dogs/brats and even bacon/ham. They would love the business.

Whining about China and refusing to buy "their" products, won't hurt them at all. This is something that is not going to reverse it's self. Politicians made us more depended on China, so go complain to them.
