Re: SkinnyMini - Question

[ Edited ]

MKR, this was my first bag of jasmine rice!  Someone mentioned it on one of my boards.  It is not as heavy or nutty as brown rice.  It is more long grain, and a very, very pale golden color.  It definitely has a yummy taste, not as bland as white, and since it is a brown rice, it is better for you.

I picked up a small bag of Mahatma Brown Jasmine Rice at the grocery store.  You can google it to see what the bag looks like.  It's red and yellow.  I like it with just salt, and maybe a few sprays of the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter.  I also mixed some in with a lentil chili mix that I got at Costco.

I say give it a try!  I used the same proportions as on the bag, but I did use the "cup" included with the Mini.

I love that I just fill up the mini, hit cook, and walk away.

Edited to say, the Jasmine comes in white and brown, and what I described was the brown.

@shoppingless Thanks I will pick up a small bag of jasmine rice in the white and start there. I think my daughter makes it for her family as I know we talked about it one time. I do love the set it and forget it way to do things in the Skinny Mini.

Have a good weekend everyone.

I LOVE white Jasmine rice.  It has more of a stronger "rice" smell.  LOL  I don't know how to describe it.

Re: SkinnyMini - Question

I made rice for the first time in my Skinny Mini tonight.  I use Lundberg's organic white Jasmine rice which is from California.  White, California rice is supposed to be lower in arsenic than other types.  My husband is Asian and knows his rice, and he said it was good. Since I just make it for the 2 of us I like using the Skinny Mini for making it.
