After reading reviews here, I got a skinny mini from hsn. Tried it out today. The way I read the directions was that press cook and when done it would go automatially to warm. Did I goof? It never went to warm...![]()

@eddyandme You are doing it correctly. Make sure your lid is always on correctly and if it is you should be fine. When it is done cooking you will know as it goes to warm. The time estimated to be done is controlled by the Skinny Mini. It may be longer than you think. If you got the one with the steamer insert be sure to be careful when you push the Cook button down. The first version has 4 legs and the steamer version I have does not. You can tip mine towards you as you push the Cook button down. I contacted the company to see if I could get another leg for it but they didn't have any. They offered a refund with free shipping back but I love mine and decided to keep it. I put a doorstop that is easy to slide under and it is perfect to stabilizer. They probably will add the extra leg back on the next version. Rice comes out perfect. Omelets are fluffy and delicious. If you are able to afford the book Simply Rice Cooker on HSN by Marian Getz you will have lots of easy recipes to do in it. Good luck and post any questions here. Everyone that owns it are very willing to help you.

Mine has four legs - think that's why it was on special if there were adding a new model. I'll try again. The mac and cheese came out fine; it's just that is never switched over so I switched it after looking at the mac - could tell it was done so added the cheese. It is very handy though for making small amounts. As it is, I shared some of the mac and some sauteed talapia with my little boy (a lab mix!). Just enough for the two of us!

Is the one with the 4 legs sturdy when you pressed the Cook button down without feeling it would tip over? That's good the Mac and cheese was just right for you

No tilting problem. The container seems "loose" for a lack of better word (it's not locked in there) but, fits perfectly once i put the cover on. It's very handy and I like the color - I got the green one. But, I did have to watch it and kept lifting up the lid so it wouldn't boil over and when it didn't flip to warm, I just flipped it myself. I'll try it again and see how it goes. Seldom cook macaroni 'cause there's always too much and too much of a hastle. So, this is really great. If I can get this to work will cook kielbasa next - do you thing cabbage would work in this?
I did get that cookbook - like it 'cause she gives amount for various sized cookers. Tried to get her air fryer book, but it sold out before I checked out. Hopefully it'll come back.

@eddyandme The inside is suppose to be a little wobbly per Lorena when she did the demos. She said it is made with a lip on the outside to keep any boil overs to run on the outside and not get inside the element inside. I don't see why cabbage couldn't be made in it. Just measure out a little more than you need will cook down like spinach does also. My Mom used to brown cabbage in a frying pan with a little butter when we were kids and we loved it. I can't imagine a child be as satisfied with what we ate as a child.
I am glad I got the cookbook as it didn't really have any recipes unless you watched her presentations. Lorena did say she was working on a cookbook for the Skinny Mini. I love to see what others make in this. The rice I made in the Skinny Mini was the first rice I had made in years as I use the frozen Steamfresh for the microwave. I will be making it in the Skinny Mini from now on.
What a difference in taste!

I can't believe it! My Mum used to fry the best cabbage on earth! She added so many different spices and sauteed slowly for quite awhile - in her electric skillet. She was of Russian decent and was an excellent cook - both Russian and French (my Dad's nationality). I miss them so - but, the fried cabbage brought back so many happy memories - and smells! If you could sometime, please look up your Mom's recipe: I haven't been able to find my Mum's. Thanx.!![]()

It is a small world. I make the fried cabbage also like my Mom. She just chopped it up with long skinny strands and added some butter with some salt and pepper and fried it on highest heat she could without burning it. It really gave it a nice taste. I am sure if she had an electric skillet she would have used it though. She added bacon if she had some. She may have used lard at times but I just saw her with the butter. I may have to get some cabbage and make some. Some of the best memories of mine are from foods as when I smell them I can picture where I was and whom I was with eating it. My daughter was the only one that liked it in my house. My husband doesn't even give me a hard time when I smell the house up. Better tasting than smelling when cooked.

I love my skinny mini, I have already used it more than the huge ninja I bought a year ago, as I am not much of a cook.
I made brown jasmine rice it it a couple of times, and cheese grits. Both came out great!

@shoppingless I have never bought jasmine rice. What does it taste like? I am not a fan of brown rice of any I have tried. The Skinny Mini takes up little room and makes just enough for me of things my husband doesn't like. It's cute too.
I got the Rio Red as I didn't know if I would like it but I really wanted the blue. I give small appliances to my niece as she doesn't have much. It will give me an excuse to buy the next model in this someday.
