I live alone. My three adult children live out of state and my neighbors are mostly vegan so I have no one to share baked good with. Nonetheless, I have a gorgeous pink kitchenaid stand mixer sitting on my counter. I purchased the three quart model so it's not as heavy or space occupying as the TSV. I just love looking at it!

I live alone also and have a KA mixer. I debated back & forth for several months before making the purchase but so glad I did. I do use it a lot. I love baking and cooking so I have gotten my moneys worth out of it for sure.

Why buy a single person KitchenAid mixer? All recipes for baking need to be followed strickly and are not written for a single serving.
Breaking down the recipe is not that easy nor will it turn out successful. Unless, of course you are a very experienced baker, I would NOT go with this small mixer.

I'm not sure what living in a single person household has to do with whether you have a mixer or not?
Do you want it? Would you use it and enjoy using it? If so get it! If you wouldn't don't get it. All of course if you can afford it.
And don't bother with the smaller one either.

I am single and have the KA stand mixer, tilt head with glass bowl, in red. I've used it frequently although certainly not every day and sometimes not every week. But, due to problems with my hands (too many years of computer use) I welcome the power and ease of using the stand mixer so it does all the work! I'm going to get the stainless bowl someday, as the glass bowl is heavy. But it's a great machine and has been welcome in this single person's kitchen for several years.

Baking is an exact science. It's not liking cooking. Buying a single person mixer, makes no sense unless of course, as has been mentioned, you are an very experienced baker and know how to use 1/2 and egg etc., etc.
Recipes are written for more than one person.

@LonestarBabs Absolutely going to switch to a metal bowl, too.
every time i I lift that hunk of glass, I’m dealing with danger!

Go for it. I am now a single household.
I purchased my kitchen aid from QVC in 1998. I got the mixer with the bowl lift thinking that I had ordered the tilt head one. Now years later, I am glad I have the bowl lift one with the metal bowl. I can make double batches of cookies with ease.

I think you have to consider what you make or bake, not necessarily the fact that you are alone. I'm not alone and I'm not a baker, but the only two things I use my Kitchen Aid for are oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and Antonella's banana cake. I couldn't make either without my KA. Both are very heavy doughs. Besides, you probably give a few things away, like cookies.

I had a large mixer and it got to be to heavy for me to move so I gave it to my nephew and purchased the mini Kitchen Aid stand mixer. I love the mini and can make a double batch of cookie or cake mixes in mine. Have made pie dough and bread, love not having to kneed. Mostly I use it to mix meatloaf, meatballs or shred chicken since my hands are giving me fits. Purchase it if you want it and I'm sure you will find uses for it.
