Root beer in an iced mug--like A & W.
‎04-05-2014 01:34 AM
Red's Giant Hamburg in Springfield, Missouri. You can look this up on the computer. Very fond memories for me. It was one of the world's first drive-through restaurant. Best hamburgers and french fries I have ever had in my whole life. Red, also made homemade rootbeer...Yum.
It was one of my first childhood memories, eating at Red's.

It would be neat if you could find a old pocketbook (handbag) at a antique store. Women also wore white gloves back then.
I would be happy with any questions. I remember it well

Sister Golden Hair - I believe the hamburger's are going to be provided by the host but your sharing will be great conversation and I will look it up.
What sort of clothing did the lady traveler's wear? Was it zany or ??????

"(Get Your Kicks On) Route 66"
Can I come to this party? I might have to steal this idea. If I was hosting, I'd ask everyone to represent a region and bring items from that part of the country. There's also a retro cocktail party feel to Route 66, so this calls for some cool music and drinks. I'd serve sloe gin and 7 Up over ice and vodka martinis.
I guess I'd have to bring something uniquely New Mexican. Gotta have some guacamole, chips, salsa, tequila, beer, lime, and a big pot of carne adovada. If you're serving burgers, make sure you have a few green chile cheeseburgers.

I am fairly certain that Route 66 never went through Hawaii.
and not only that, in the heyday of Route 66 , Hawaii was just a territory, not even a state!
My Dad was a fighter pilot stationed there and was there on Dec 7 1941...Pearl Harbor....When he graduated Flight School in 1939,he had 3 choices where he wanted to be stationed, and he wrote "Hawaii, Hawaii Hawaii"...

no, I am closer to Pasadena- I think the Wig Wam on the way to (or in )San Bernardino.. used to be the middle of nowhere...now the middle of nowhere is all tract homes and shopping malls....I was born in Pasadena and my parents were raised there. Lots of wonderful memories of all the Rose Parades, etc. When I was in third grade we moved to Orange County so I grew up there.
The San Gabriel Valley and Orange County are closely linked, growing up in arcadia, lots of folks moved to the Newport area during the 1970's especially as they developed Irvine- We had a house in Corona Del Mar- (wish we still DID!)LOL

You are so very bad! Now you've done it - I won't get any sleep or rest until I have one of those burgers this weekend!! By the way, I like your kind of bad.
Slo-Gin and 7-up, I can do that, yeah, I can do that.
