How about good old fashioned banana splits? I haven't thought about those in YEARS.

Stilltamn8er and DiAnne ~ I was born and raised in Pasadena (3rd gen)We lived behind the Tournament House (formerly Wrigley's). I moved to Glendora when I got married. Lived there for 41 years until I moved to TX (I miss Glendora and So Cal so much). I wasn't too happy when they changed Alosta to Rte 66, but will go with the flow.

Sooner and Hildegard - Oh.......such good ideas and we'd all waddle out of there at the end of the party!

Yes Mustang, I could have never thought up such a theme.

I just wonder if there is a certain fashion befitting the whole idea/theme. Someone has already got dibs on the music.

LOL! My mom ws an interior designer in San Marino and when they re did the Tournament House, she did some of the rooms, including the media room, which is the one you frequently see on TV!

And you will be relieved to know that locals still call it Alosta! I bought a house here a few years ago after 50 years in Arcadia, nice to see someone on the boards who knows the area-

BTW, my Dad was a Texan, (Palestine) and once he came out west, he never went back! (but he made US go at least every few years!)

Fashion...what about the retro Western look from the 60s ?You know...for ladies...a skirt or jeans, Western shirt, neckerchief, boots (preferably cowboy boots)...for guys, jeans, boots,Western shirt, cowboy hat, bolo tie...

I like your ideas, thanks. I have jeans, a sort of western style shirt. Boots? I've got something that will work. Wonder the others will wear and how they will look - should be a hoot! {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Love Roses, it sure sounds like fun! Please post after the party and let us know how it was! For food...you could include something Mexican or some fry bread...

My parents moved to Az when I was little and drove to Az on 66. We lived in Flagstaff before moving to Phoenix. From pictures and what I can remember, this was a popular look then. The "Western" look. My mom also had a lot of Navajo and Hopi jewelry. Bought from the people themselves. Beautiful things, and they would complete this "look". Smiley Happy

Re: Share Please - Route 66 Menu

I wore white lipstick and my Mother (and all her friends) wore bright red lipstick. And please don't forget the blue eyeshadow.

The bigger the bell-bottom, the better. White Go-Go boots were the "IN" thing. I would also wear a man's long white shirt. Tie-dye came later in the 1960's with hiphugger bell-bottoms.

When women would entertain family and friends, they would wear a long flowing caftan.

When we would travel, my Mother would dress in bright patterned capris. Funny, those have come back really strong this year. Mother wore a short cotton blouse with her capris. Her tops always had buttons. I never saw any pullover tops.

I would love to go to a party with this theme{#emotions_dlg.wub}

Later in the 1960's, we wore stirrup pants.
