the public is just hoping that she tries to recycle...granted if the bag was used for something greasy or sticky it pretty much should be thrown away...sure she's tired with her large family and all the cooking and all the plastic bags, and aluminum pans and foil wrap helps her out, unfortunately, not the environment:/

It is not uncommon for her to be making breakfast/lunch for them and then bringing an entire meal to them to be eaten out of the back of her SUV. So much easier and less apt to be breaking casseroles if it is served out of aluminum trays. Toss after use. Plus, makes more sense to marinate meat in ziplock bags instead of plastic containers. Most recipes for marinades contain oil, and that can be difficult to completely wash out of the plastic bags. One less thing that needs to be washed. After getting up at the crack of dawn at times, I am sure the last thing that she wants to do is wash unnecessary dishes. I also reuse plastic ziplock bags if I can, but see no reason to criticize Ree if she chooses not to. To each his/her own.
It makes absolutely no sense to me at all, to use those throw away aluminum pans all the time. If you were actually taking food out to ranch workers twice a day can you imagine the volume of single use containers you'd go through not to mention the expense. Plus it's not like they are in an office with a trash can is right there. They are still carrying the used containers around until they get to the barn or house where there is a trash can.
I think she must just do this for the show, because having lived in a rural area with farming and ranching those folks are generally frugal and many of them do not have commerical trash pick up. So that means you're taking it all to the dump. So yes, washing containers is better than more trash you have to haul to the county dump yourself.

I love my L&L, but I do use bags from time to time and almost always recycle them. Sometimes I fill them with soap and water, zip them up and leave them in the sink overnight - rinse them in the morning.

On today's show she was prepping "meal kits". (I've been doing that for years and never called them meal kits, but I guess that's the new trend. )
For one meal kit, I think she had six zipper bags with cut up veggies and stuff. There's no reason that I could see why it couldn't have been stored in reusable containers.
I like her, but I she does have a huge influence on her viewers. I think she should set a better example. Today she said that she "sometimes" or "occasionally" reuses the bags, but it didn't seem like that was a regular occurance.

I think how many baggies one uses it up to the individual and not a problem for anyone else. Certainly nothing to call someone out for. . .

Shows like these are scripted to a point. Who knows (or cares) what she uses when the camera is off?

I re-watched the show with the meal kits & she did say she reuses the bags if "they are not too messy". I really like the glass containers with the plastic lids. I am thinking of replacing my plastic containers with the glass. I still need the plastic for transporting food out of the house but loved Ree's glass containers think they will last much longer than the plastic ones.
