Rastelli Market Fresh Prime Rib

[ Edited ]

Update: I listened to the advice of some of you and contacted them directly They were very receptive, apologetic and anxious to make things right. Because of that I am going to remove the pictures now. The customer service at Rastelli is second to none...even though I had bought through a third party (QVC).

Oh my gosh.  am sooo gullible. Fell for the presentations on this Rastelli Market Black Angus Prime Rib. I watched several of the presentations  before ordering. HUGE mistake. Wanted to cry when we removed the thawed roast from the packaging on Easter morning. QVC was wonderful when I called them, and I did send them pictures of what I received for their quality control team to review. They need to know what this company is sending out to their valued customers. We tried to cook it, but it was a mess.Full of fat and gristle. One side was just a hanging thin strip of meat, that was almost hamburger consistency.  Never again will I buy a Prime Rib without seeing it, first.  I'm sure the hosts are telling the truth when they present. They probably taste great, and certainly look great on the set.  The ones that this butcher brings with him for presentation are beautiful and look like something I would get from a great meat market that is about 35 miles away (which  I will order from this Christmas). But what I received would never be sold, even in a regular supermarket. It's a bummer, for sure. He kept saying that they wouldn't give you anything they wouldn't sell to their own mom. He must not think much of his mom...just sayin'. So sad....

I think you should call Rastelli directly and send them the photos you posted.  I really can't believe that that prime rib came from them.  I  buy my meat directly from them and never have a problem.  I purchased prime rib steaks and they were great and all natural, no hormones or antibiotics. They also have specials every month and I think they are less expensive when you purchase directly from them.  Their Kobe burgers are to die for.  Customer service is top notch and very helpful.

I agree with lovestoshop....contact the company with the pictures you provided...that is one of the worst pieces of meat i have ever seen....what a dissapointment...shame on them if that is what they do to customers...

I promise you  those pictures were not altered in ANY way! That is the roast we received!!  I posted them because I wanted to warn people to be cautious. And I will take your advice and contact Rastelli directly, too.  It was such a shock...hubby advised me to take the pictures. I really was almost in tears when I saw the condition it was in when we took it out of the packaging after defrosting it!

Re: Rastelli Market Fresh Prime Rib

Thank you for letting me know that they are great in their store. I hope this was just a fluke and nobody else got one like we did!!  I just sent them a message and attached three pictures, front, back and side views. I hope they reply. We have a box of the 6 oz sirloin steaks in the freezer right now. Just got them Friday after being on waitlist for a couple weeks. They looked great in the box, exactly like they looked on TV. But now, I'm a little nervous about them. It's a lot of money to spend if they turn out to be as bad  this roast....sigh.

Wow, I feel for you- Like you I am sure I would have tried to cook it too.. Because we "trust" QVC and their hosts, I think we (well I anyway) sometiems buy things that I wouldnt have considered otherwise..usually it turns out fine, but oh my..

Please keep us updated on how the compnaay responds to this...

Re: Rastelli Market Fresh Prime Rib

I've already received a reply from Erin Mills with Rastelli. She was very apologetic and  sent my letter and pictures on to their quality control so they can find out how this happened. Her email response was personal, not canned or a form letter. She also wants to send me something to make up for my bad experience and hopes that we will give them another chance in the future.  I wasn't angling for anything free, but the fast response and extra mile to make it right has really impressed me. You don't see that in most companies, today! After this, I would consider trying  them, again!

I also like to see what I am paying for and in the case of prime rIb I definitely want to see it in person.

We used to buy from QVC's  Kansas City, but stopped after the last 2 prime ribs were nothing but tough, fat, and grizzle.

K.S, used to be delicious as far as their meats, and prime ribs, but I refuse to buy sight unseen, so for years we only buy from  licensed USDA inspected Farms in Upstate NY... where everything is fresh, no antibiodics grass fed, and above all free to roam in various sections of land, alloted for each food group.

OMG!!!! ..... what a disgrace ... thank you for letting us know .... sometimes I am tempted to order the steaks but I don't because the prices are too high & I rather go to the local butcher & see what I am buying..... good luck & I hope they compensate you well!!!

Re: Rastelli Market Fresh Prime Rib

It sounds like everyone has tried to make this right for you, as they should.  How disappointing to have that happen when you planned to use it for Easter.

I, too have a package of their steaks in my freezer which I have not opened.

At Christmas time I ordered the Great Gourmet Colossal Crab Cakes. They arrived a week before Christmas and no one had packed a dry ice packet in the box.  They were mush, warm, disgusting.  I called the company and was told to throw them out.  They said they would replace, but I wanted them for Christmas Eve and it was too late.  They told me to call Q for a complete refund, which I did and received.  No complaints about making things right.  What irritated me was the carelessness on the part of the person who packed them without putting in the plastic bag of dry ice.
