I bought her mopine just because she calls it a "mopine."
That was a word my grandma from Italy used.
Did I need another dish towel? Nope, but Rachael is a great marketer!

When they first came out, I thought how ridicules to spend money on a bowl to put scraps in. Then my SIL got one and was in love with it for mixing in it on granite counter tops, no slippage with rubber bottom. She uses for everything except microwave.
I got it and just love this bowl! The red is very pretty and I ended up getting my daughter a purple one. I also love the feel of this bowl and rubber bottom.
Thanks for the recommendation. I love that it has non slip on the bottom and this bowl looks like a great mixing bowl that is nicer than the stainless steel mixing bowl that I already have and use daily. My stainless steel bowl slips all over the counter.
The idea of throwing scraps, cans, etc into one bowl does indeed save steps. I am a neat cook and cannot stand a mess on the counter. If I have a carton or a bag from meat or vegetables I throw the scraps in there. Surely this bowl is nicer. For those having such a hard time understanding this bowl, do you really think $16.99 is that expensive for a mixing bowl/utility bowl? I don't. Sure I can go to the dollar store and buy a plastic bowl, but why would I want to. I already have a stainless bowl that slides on the counter just as that plastic one would. It seems that just because Rachael's name is on it it is automatically silly to some posters. Who cares. The price is right and it is functional. It is a multi use bowl that looks nice...for $16.99. Get over it people.

I certainly opened up a can of worms posting this topic, all I intended to do was give a heads up on a good price for this bowl to people who might be interested... lol
Most of these posters can only focus on the word Garbage bowl. It is just a bowl like any other bowl that can be used for multiple applications. The benefit to this bowl is when mixing, the slip free bottom that is very useful when using on granite counter tops. This is high quality Melamine, not a cheap plastic bowl found at Dollar stores.
I bought it because I think it is pretty, I like the shape and I wanted it. Some might think $16.99 is expensive for a mixing bowl, I do not!
Last time I will ever pass on something I thought was a good deal!!!! So people get over it!
Geez!

So, I got the green one that is NOT on sale..lol. It was $19.99. I just loved it and it will go great in my kitchen. It will also make a great popcorn bowl since we pop our own popcorn multiple times a week for the kids for a snack. This post reminds me of when I got my popcorn maker (Whirly Pop), it is a pot that has a hand cranky that you cook on the stove top. It is one of my favorite gadgets. Can I tell you how many people said to me "You can't just use a pot on the stove top? You need a special pot that has a hand crank?" LOL it was $19.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond and I used a $5 coupon. It only has to be wiped out and not washed since I use it so often, and stores nicely in my pantry. My kids love to make it and to me it is safer than shaking a hot pot full of oil.
Over the past year I have been going through my cabinets and trying to assess what I use, don't use, love, and just cannot stand anymore. Getting married almost 20 years ago my taste has changed so much. It is nice to treat yourself to new pieces every once and a while. I am really on the hunt for new pasta bowls. I would love a plain white set but they have to be a little larger than what you usually see as pasta bowls. I got a set from Fortunoff when I got married and the size of the bowls are nice and big and that is what my pasta loving DH has been use to!!!
Can't wait for my new green bowl!! Throwing away that ugly stainless mixing bowl will be a treat!
Thanks again for the suggestion!!! I for one appreciate it!!!

Tia... I thought the green was pretty also with the different color specks, for some reason it reminds me of the colors in Guacamole! lol I hope you like it, my DD loves her purple one and my DM and I love the red. I hope you find the pasta bowls your looking for. I love kitchen stuff and I also like to update and change out my dishes!

Glad you like your bowl, not for me, have plenty of extra bowls to use. Am not a fan of Melamine, thanks though for the heads up.

The white bowls I use for pasta I got from BBB. They are a rectangle on the top and swoop down to an oval on the bottom--10"x5"x4". I love these bowls!
