For anyone interested... Amazon.com has Rachael Rays Garbage Bowl for $16.99, I ordered 3 red bowls, for me, daughter and mom. That is a great price and for Prime members 2 days free shipping. I will use as mixing bowl and garbage bowl lined with a grocery bag for easy clean up.

I can agree with it as a mixing bowl..........but I can not understand that price as a garbage bowl, as I am PERSONALLY able to take and scrape into my trash can, that is in a garbage drawer, with no bowl needed, or I save and go down to the fox pen just next to me, and throw everything out for them........win, win for me........
Otherwise, if I am making a big dish, with lots of items, cans and such..... I just put them in a grocery store bag, and then tie it up tight, and throw it away, as no "dump" in my county..........Just have never understood the price of a "garbage bowl"........NO offense against you, and I do hope that you enjoy your purchase............

I agree with forrestwolf....that is one of those products that's high on my list of things never to buy.

I personally couldn't justify that much for a mixing/garbage bowl. I use an old plastic bag and tie it up like Forrestwolf, or reuse the plastic container that the meat comes in.
I do have some nice mixing bowls, (OXO and Pourfects), but they were inexpensive.
No offense, either. I suppose I have spent some $$, that other's may have thought extravagant. Enjoy your purchase-it was nice of you to buy gifts for your family!

A garbage bowl is for composting type garbage, ie coffee grounds, egg shells, fruit and veggie peels, etc. I have one and keep it right by the kitchen sink and then take out to the garden every couple of days. I dump it out there even in the snow and bury it so that when the snow melts it will be in my veggie garden. I will then till it into the soil in the Spring. My grandfather used to do this for his gardens and he had the most beautiful plants and veggies. I would not use it for cans and regular trash, I have a garbage can that pulls out of my cabinets for that.

Rachel Ray's garbage bowl is not a composting bucket. It's a colorful, bowl that she uses for scraps. I don't think she should call it that, as it has other uses.

Dollar store sells bowls that can be used as garbage bowls. Why not just use a regular bowl or does it say garbage on it, I haven`t seen it.

My granny had what was called the "chicken pan", and that was where all of the scraps went, and then went out into the chicken yard, for all of the chickens to enjoy..........and then the other scraps when out to the dog/cats, after being with a mixture of the fonds in the bottom of the fry pan, mixed with water, and added to their food, and they kept the kritters/mice/snakes away........so it was put to good use.......My family came from a working farm, where all animals had a use and purpose...........and all ate well..........
The chicken pan was an enamel "bowl" that my granny would never have paid such a price for..........AGAIN.......no negatives against the OP, and I hope she enjoyes her bowl, and finds it very much a part of her kitchen, and it is very useful for her..........![]()
