I have tried to get a Walmart bone in ham recently. I put it in the pickup order, and all is well until we are told the pickup is ready, they they say no ham for YOU! No substitutes, no bone in ham FOR YOU!
SO, I may pick up a Honey Baked Ham in OKC later. So can you tell me what is usually the "use by" date on one? What is the time frame? I want to cook it Christmas Eve, so I'd like some idea when to pick up.
Thanks! Yours in ham--the perfect food: salt, fat and sugar!

Your making my mouth water and I'm a vegetarian! I always get the gold wrapped ham at Sams Club. It has a long shelf life. They had a lot in my store. I'm getting it this weekend. I heard really good things about Honey Baked Hams. Enjoy it. Happy Holidays 🎄

@Sooner Most people buy a half. I would call the Honey Baked store and tell them if you want it bigger half or smaller because they are different weights. Also ask about expiration. You better call soon. Honey Baked is an outstanding, delicious ham. All you do is heat the ham according to the directions. You can always use the bone and some ham and make split pea soup if you like that soup or ham and noodle casserole. Happy Holidays.

@Katcat1 But can you tell me what the "use by" date usually is when you pick one up? Like how many days would you expect before you get to the "use by" date?

And, you may even have some delicious HoneyBaked ham leftovers you can continue to enjoy long after the main meal. Our ham can be kept in the refrigerator for 6-8 days or in the freezer for 45 days.

A honey baked ham is going to last longer than most hams. You should call Honey Baked near you or the 1-800 number and inquire. That is your best answer. Call soon. Their hams are in great demand and go fast. I have frozen them leftover for quite a while, weeks, as I recall. But do call.

@Sooner. LOL. I got a ham through Walmart pick up at Easter. The one I got was 19. Lbs. Wish they'd been out of them that day. That's a lot of ham for one person. Ate it every way conceivable until I was sick of it. Still have a hunk in the freezer. Yuck. It was a far cry from honey baked ham. Tough.

@Sooner I can't because it has been a while since I held a party. Please call and they will give you the accurate info.

@Kachina624 Definition of eternity: Two people and a ham.
You got a long way to go! Don't you have some dried pinto beans to cook, and salsa and cornbread?

@Sooner I get a Honeybaked ham for almost every holiday, and it can keep in the refrigerator for about a week after you pick it up.
You mentioned wanting to cook it, but actually, the best way to eat a Honeybaked ham is to just take it out of the refrigerator 30-60 minutes before serving, and serve it at room temperature! I was skeptical the first time I got one. I thought for sure I would want to heat it, but trust me when I say that room temperature is the way to go. It has the most flavor that way. One of the advantages to getting a Honeybaked ham is that your oven is freed up for other things you might be cooking.
Lastly, look for coupons. If you don't have a coupon from a local flyer, you can probably find one online to print out. If you go to the store to pick it up, I also highly recommend the Tuscan broccoli side dish. It is so good!
Geez, they should pay me for advertising, LOL!
