QVC forum needs to create a cookbook or database for all the recipes we post.

Wouldn't that be nice? Smile

Sounds good. It shouldn't be that difficult for them to do it. It would be a big help for them not get forever buried in the threads.

Even if they just put the Monthly recaps in one spot!

Nice thought, but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen. They'd have to have someone check every recipe to make sure it isn't copyrighted. Sorry if I ruined your idea.

Someone did that here a few years ago- it was great, a true labor of love on her part..

anyone remember who it was? ,i think I know but I don't want to say the wrong name and possibly offend someone...

Why don't you do it? You can do it in Google Docs so that everyone has access. Create a master document and then add sections for each recipe type - main course, appetizer, soup, etc. You'll need to copy and paste or retype every recipe, along with any notes people might add about it. Of course, if you own responsibility for it, you may need to test it for accuracy or people might be mad at you if you type it up as it is and some amount is off and someone's dinner is ruined.

If you don't want to, you might have just figured out why QVC doesn't want to, either. It's a lot of work to maintain a document like that and they would need to hire someone to do that instead of just moderating the forums. QVC also won't want to issue a cook book because there are all kinds of legal issues that will pop up about publication and intellectual property rights. Where do you get the recipes that you post here? Do you own them or does someone else? /Have they already been published elsewhere? QVC would need to figure all that out if they wanted to publish them in a book or even a newsletter.

Despite all that, you absolutely can do it yourself via Google Docs and give everyone read or read/edit access to to just view recipes or to view and add or edit recipes.

Re: QVC forum needs to create a cookbook or database for all the recipes we post.

I have found many recipes on these boards that I've tried so I think putting together a cookbook is a good idea EXCEPT.......

publishing a cookbook involves testing each recipe to make sure it works. Just publishing the recipe without testing could be disastrous. What if someone left out an ingredient(s) either by accident or maliciously?

I like to cook but I don't necessarily know if a particular recipe is missing anything. Even missing something as simple as salt could ruin the taste.

I think a Database, with a disclaimer, would be a much better idea.

When she did it, she categorized the recipes, but I know they were not "tested" in any way... Still, it was fun having them at our fingertips...

It was not a cookbook, rather just a compilation of the recipes we had posted..

that would be ideal!!!!! I would love to have some where to go when I need a good recipe for a certain dinner I would like make.

hate having to paw thru all old recipes, missing the recipe I was looking for.

wish there was someway to put them in an area in some kind of order.

There is. Your computer will allow for that. They're built to compile and organize data and you can customize your organization system in whatever way works best for you, even if it doesn't make sense to anyone else. And because it's all digitized, you can search for a recipe based on an ingredient. Your computer can search your recipe folder for anything with the word Basil or Quinoa, or even Quinoa AND basil.
