I just got the call that my kids stove is broken beyond repair. They cook with gas. It's been years since I purchased a range so I need help with what is a decent brand and what is not. I have a Consumers Reports book but I found that the best information comes from these forums. When I had to replace my dishwasher I received such good advice with what to check and which brands to look at that it made it less stressful and I got an appliance that I like. That's what I'm hoping to find out for the kids and their stove. What are some decent gas stoves that do not cost a small fortune? Their space is limited so it would be a 4 burner stove top (gas) but I need the oven large enough to hold a 20+ turkey, etc. and a broiler. Any help you can suggest would be greatly appreciatedf. Thanks in advance for your time.

Do you like Samsung? Check out model NX58H5500. It has 5 burners, a griddle fits in the middle. It's a standard 30 inches wide with 5.8 cubic feet of oven space. $600
A lower end four burner is $500.
30 inches is standard width for ranges, but you can find smaller apt sizes. The oven capacity ranges from 5 to 6 cubic ft. I'd go for the bigger oven.

I'd go with a good one that offers an interchangeable griddle and a good oven that doesn't eat the built in thermometer.

Earlier this year had my kitchen remodeled. Went with a four burner, white, Frigidaire, self-cleaning (only because the broiler is in the oven instead of underneath), storage drawer underneath, pretty much plain jane appliance. It cost me approx. $780.00. You can get this stove for about $100.00 less from the big box store, but I bought mine from a local appliance store with their own repair dept. just in case.
Anyway, it bakes and cooks wonderfully and I'm quite happy so far...
I previously had an electric Frigidaire, similar to the one I bought, but I wanted gas and a white appliance (doesn't show the dirt as much and looks good in my cottage kitchen)..
Good luck, I know it's not easy to find something of somewhat quality with a smaller price tag...

I wanted to take a minute to thank you all for your help. its' been years since I bought a stove. I think our kids should be in good shape especially since they have some model numbers. It seems more and more difficult to find an appliance that is just the basics.and doesen't cost a fortune. Thank you for your hints and tips and time. I appreciate it.
