Went food shopping yesterday.  Price of lean ground beef is $11.28/lb.  What's the price in your area?

I'm a Publix shopper too. I was going to buy lean ground beef last week to make chili. When I saw that price of $11.28 Lb. I switched to ground chuck.I was buying a large amount so that I could make 3 or 4 meals.  I can't remember the price of ground chuck but it was a lot less. After I browned the meat I drained it well and used paper towels to sop up a lot of fat as it was cooking. I guess that's life for now.

I shop at a meat market.  Ground round, which is their lean, is $6.99 per lb.   It may be cheaper if bought in a larger quantity.

Yikes!  Not on sale - 85/15 may be 6.99 here.  On sale 4.99.  I got 80/20 this week for 3.99. I usually buy the value packs, around 3 lbs.  I almost always wait for the sale price.  I usually have 4/5 lbs in my freezer.  I usually buy 85/15, but sometimes 80/20.  

I'll have to see what 93/7 runs.

8.29 lb at Wegmans for 95% lean ground beef. I  read Publix has gotten into some hot water for price gouging.

I buy Costco's Kirkland Signature 91% Lean / 9% Fat (5-pack): These 5 1-pound blocks usually cost around $33.99 at the warehouse (about $6.80 per pound).

I buy Costco's too.  Haven't been there in a while.  I guess I'll be going back sooner than later.  I won't pay $11.28/lb.

@ScrapHappy  I never look at the regular price (only buy on sale) but I'm getting ground sirloin at Publix after work today. It is on sale 3 lbs or more for $7.99 a pound. That is a dollar less than it usually is.

I think the lean ground beef is usually 7% fat while ground sirloin is 10%.

Yes!  I'm always a buy when on sale person.  Especially the BOGO's at Publix.  I was just going to pick it up as a last minute decision for dinner until I saw the price.  I'm not a big read meat person but my husband is.
