Well hopefully those of us, myself especially, will report back when we get the mixer as to place of origin.  I'm still hoping what I was told from KitchenAid CS is true...maybe he contacted QVC to tell them to remove "imported" from their description.  When I spoke with CS yesterday he went online and saw the specs where it said imported and again,me assured me that it was made in Greenville, OH.

P.S.  The Q&A on the page for the item has several questions regarding place of origin and someone from QVC said it was made in the USA.

Hopefully it was just a big mistake.   But it seemed odd that it said 'Imported' for all that time, then it disappeared but was not replaced with 'MIA'.

I wonder if they are talking about that in the presentations.  I remember back when all the KA products were MIA they were singing that fact from the rooftops, as it's a huge selling point.

I'll say it again.  Go to the KA website.  Search on stand mixers.  You'll get their complete line.  You'll see that ONLY the two most expensive "Commercial" mixers state that they are "Proudly assembled in Greenville, OH.  The other mixers say nothing.  If ALL of their stand mixers were assembled in Greenville, OH, I assume that the descriptions would include that.

If you buy a KA stand mixer ANYWHERE, you can check the box it comes in as well as the "builder's plate" on every machine.  Those two items will tell you where the machine was assembled.

But, I took one of the model numbers from the "M" store website and ran it against the KA website.  I could not find the model number shown on the "M" store website.

I don't have the foggiest idea of what's going on.  I try to buy Made (or at least assembled) in USA whenever I can.  I take umbrage when premium brands charge their regular premium price for a product that is made or assembled outside the US.

I definitely saw the word, 'imported' in the description this morning. I read the PDF manual and it's from 2009-no mention of where it's made.

Technically, they can say that KitchenAid is headquartered in Ohio, and that's true, but .....

There is too much confusion. I don't have a problem buying a known import-but I don't like this lie by omission.

It's strange. Some of the "M" store KA stand mixers do have the KSM model # listed (Model KSM150PS, Model KSM152PS, etc)  but it isn't listed consistently. 

It makes it very difficult to compare apples to apples.

ETA I watched two of the TSV presentations this morning and no one mentioned MIA.

My KSM150 Artisan Series, purchased at "Tar-jay," says "St. Joseph Michigan, USA" on the side.  So is that where it was manufactured, or just where it was assembled?

I wonder what happened to the afternoon Kitchenaid programming today?  The very quickly added a Denim & Co. show and completely cut out Kitchenaid.  I just checked and not a single mixer color sold out.  It must have been a bust.

I'm somewhat amused by all the concern over where this machine is made/aassembled.  It wouldn't make a bit of difference to me.  I think we need to bolster the Chinese economy so they'll continue to loan us money and make our happy lives possible.

I get what you're saying, Kachina.  Heck, all my computers are probably from China, as are my cameras and numerous other things - mostly electronics.

I cannot speak for anybody else, but what bothers me about this specific situation is that this company has made their reputation based almost solely on the fact that their products WERE all MIA.  

They were also of great quality WHEN Hobart was making them.  Then they sold out to another company and started slowly working in plastic gears and parts, where they used to all be metal.

THEN, they slowly started making some of the products, at least ones that were sold as TSVs, in China - from the hand mixers to the food processors and now, possibly, the stand mixers.

It's usually pretty much a given that when a company starts reducing quality in production and then even takes the production to China that it's not the same product that they used to sell.  But, they are still hawking them as what they always were when they had the stellar reputation.

I guess it boils down to deceit, for mme.   When they were made in the US, boy, they couldn't say that enough times.  Now you don't hear a peep but they still DO go on and on about their reputation.

Jason T.: No problem, I'm glad to be able to assist you with your inquiry. All the stand mixers sold here in the U.S. are manufactured in Greenville OH.

Ok, I don't mean to keep the pot stirred but this is what I received from Kitchen Aid today...just a few minutes ago.  I asked if any of the mixers for places like QVC have been outsourced and apologized for the question.   I hope this helps someone who wanted to get a stand mixer but was hesitant because they might have been made in China.
