@AinhisgI do thank you for all the tips on browning, but my question really is about this particular appliance.

You are welcome, and yes, I understand you're asking about this pressure cooker.  I was just trying to suggest some things for the ones you currently have so you wouldn't have to buy a new one.  If you get a new one, I hope you love it!

@In-x-s  I don't have the 8qt but have the 6qt.  My only issue is that it takes 25 min to come to pressure.  The Cooks Essential that I had before only took 10-15 min.

ETA browns great

LOL!  well now what to do??  I wish I could find the one ideal appliance that just does it all and does it well.  I've struggled back and forth with getting a Ninja cooker but it's not a pressure cooker.  The pressure cookers I have are not good at browning.   What to do - what to do!

thanks for the helpful responses so far.

thank you @grandma2pkmh!  I talked myself out of it.  I really do not need one that large and after reading several reviews like yours about how long it takes and things not getting fall apart tender like some other pressure cookers, I decided not to order.  I already have a 2, 4, and 6 quart and love every one of them for what I use them for.  I just long for one that will truly sear the meat before I pressure it.  I will keep doing as I have which is sear the meat in a pan on a burner then throw it in the pressure cooker, deglazing the pan to throw in as the liquid.

Re: Power XL Pressure Cooker question

@In-x-s  I never use the browning/saute feature in the pressure cooker because I think I get much more even results by using a skillet on my stovetop for that.  It's only a frying pan and takes a minute to wash off in my sink.

I'm after the speed  of the pressure cooker and how it makes tough meat much more tender so not using its browning feature doesn't bother me, plus the diameter and depth of the pressure cooker isn't ideal for browning.

Re: Power XL Pressure Cooker question

I so enjoyed my Cook's Essential Pressure Cooker ^ qt. until the inner pot started peeling. It was really so easy to use. But I'm holding on to it in hope it will have a stainless inner pot that I can use.in it.
