Tried it this afternoon and the unpopped kernels fall through the strainer and are separated from the popped kernels. I was then able to re-pop most of the ones that collected in the bottom so there were less "old maids" overall.

Got it at Amazon. Called the Hutzler Popcorn Bucket.

That's a good idea - it isn't nice to bite down on one of those hard unpopped kernels.

We used to joke about another Hutzler product - the Banana Slicer.  It's still being sold, only $5.99 on Amazon.  Seems kind of ridiculous - who needs help slicing a banana.

bed, bath and beyond had something like this, too. big bucket with removable insert. i've had one for years, they are the best.
