Pizza stone vs. directly on oven rack?

We have afternoon Movie Wednesday at a friends, since she has streaming Netflix. Yesterday she served a Kashi pizza, thin crust. It was outstanding. When I helped her clean up, I noticed she had heated it on a pizza stone. This is a frozen store bought pizza. When I cook my Schwan's pizzas, I just put them right on the oven rack without a cookie sheet. Will they improve if I use a pizza stone, or would it be a waste of money? Yes, I'm going to start buying Kashi.
