Re: OLIVE OIL OR EVOO????

[ Edited ]

I don't even remember EVOO when I was growing up.

My grandmother used regular olive oil.

When EVOO became popular my grandmother would say, "Just get me olive oil! "

I remember her buying olive oil in a big tin can at the supermarket. If the can was dented the manager would give you a discount. She would kick it and claim the dent when she got to the register. 😝 I think the manager knew!

Trader Joe has wonderful olive oil, so does Fairway.

We use more Nativa organic Avocado oil. It's more expensive but healthier. Still use organic EVOO.

I have been using organic coconut oil to pop popcorn or spritz foods that need it while cooking in the air fryer. When I run out I will use the avocado.

@KBEANS   Love your grandma!  GMTA whistling.gif

In my minds eye, olive oil is not real if it is not in a can.   I've never purchased it in a bottle.

I really don't understand the "smoke" factor.  I always turn on the hood fan when cooking so I really do not see any smoke.

I also fry in EVOO.......sea food, chicken, potatoes, crab cakes etc.  No issues.
