Check www.Heart.org for cookbook recommendations. That's the website for the American Heart Association.

Sidsmom, I know what you are saying, and it's going to continue to be controversial. I don't want to add fuel to any fires, but after my doc wanted me to go on stations, I thought " No Way"...I have a background in biochemistry and I know cholesterol is a major component of all cells and nerves. Moving on, there is a book by Stephen Sinatra called "The Great Cholesterol Myth". He went back and looked at all of the major studies... in a nutshell, he has concluded that not all helps are good, and not all the old's are bad- but what pathologists were missing entirely was the condition of arterial walls and veins-the innermost layer.....caused by oxidative damage which is caused by refined foods and sugar. He is not quite on the Atkin's train, but Dr. Sinatra maintains you can have animal sources- grass fed/ organic preferably and enjoy real butter. It's a compelling argument and well worth reading to draw your own conclusions.... drug companies are more powerful than we realize- it suits them well to make sure we use these stations..... I'm sorry to hear about your heart attack, so glad all turned out ok. For health reasons of my own, I need to get back to some healthy cooking so I'd be interested in the responses that you get.

Best wishes as you continue on your road to healing and recovery.

Maria

Besides my Heart Attack I also have Type 2 Diabetes and High Cholesterol. I am confused as to what Cookbooks to think about purchasing. I also have to watch Salt. Doesn't this eliminate almost all foods?

Elie Krieger has the GREATEST and healthiest of all recipes. I've never found anything of hers that wasn't delish. She has cookbooks you can find on Amazon, and also you can watch her videos on Youtube. Good luck!

Here's a segment from a year ago on Dr. Oz when he had 2 cardiologists on discussing heart health. We found their book very eye opening, and managed to bring down my husband's cholesterol using their methods: Good luck to you:
