Re: Nostalgic Childhood Candy

I loved the candy necklaces and bracelets. It's fun reading this thread, I remember so many of the things mentioned. I grew up in the 70's and 80's. After school I would go with my friends to the local drugstore and we would spend forever at the candy aisle trying to decide what to get. I wasn't allowed to have a lot of candy, but could get a couple things every once in awhile. The gum that was like a roll of tape, Bottle Caps, Laffy Taffy and pop rings (saw some of those the other day in the Valentine's candy section and they brought back memories). The thing I remember fondly and I know it's still around but it's so hard to find, at least where I live now... Turkish Delight. Those sweet, pastel colored glycerin looking cubes coated in powdered sugar, some were dipped in chocolate. My mom used to love it, and she would let me have a couple pieces. She always told my dad to hide the box from her because she could literally eat the entire box in one session, she loved that stuff. I haven't seen Turkish Delight in a long time.

I took my grandkids to do their shopping for christmas, we went to Ross. My grandson got Turkish delights for his other grandma. we were talking about how we liked them and so does she. So after I went and got a box for him...

This was my favorite candy as a child (still love it but my tastes have evolved to dark chocolate now!) You can get it at Cracker Barrel. Also loved Cherry Mash and Almond Joys.

I remember when Mary Jane's had a peanut butter filling.
