Re: Need suggestions for cooktop

I envy you posters with gas cooktops! I wanted gas so bad when we remodeled but it is not hooked up gas. Estimates to have a line put in were 3500, to 4,000. Plus 2500 or more for a stove, it was just too much. Maybe some day I will put one in.

I have a jenn-air downdraft stove now with removable cartridges. I have glass inserts, perma coil inserts and a griddle and a grill. I have never used the grill. They are all okay. I seem to use the glass the least, but boy does it look beautiful! It is black and looks like granite on the stove top!

Thanks to all of you for your responses. Now I really want a new cook top! We don't have gas in our house so it will have to be electric.

Re: Need suggestions for cooktop

I have a glass cooktop with induction burners. Absolutely love it! The induction is fast, uses less energy than regular electric or gas and is so incredibly easy to clean with a quick wipe down and then the Cerama Bryte. Also the induction burners emulate the cooking power and control of gas. If you turn the heat down, it goes down immediately, not like other electric burners and no cycling with induction.

True, you need magnetic bottom pans for the induction, but my pans worked anyway. Love my le crueset enamel cast iron on the induction.
