Re: Need Rec- MOIST Cake from Scratch Recipes

I could never use a bag of Self Rising Flour fast enough and always ended up tossing it. My grandma gave me this recipe so I could make it myself as needed.

Homemade Self Rising Flour Recipe for One Cup

(Recipe below and a how-to video by clicking the title) She also has a mayonnaise cake that may be something your mom made or an elder gave her the recipe from the WW2 era.

Chocolate Snack'n Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 cups sugar

1/2 cup cocoa powder

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted

1 cup milk

3 eggs

1 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350°F

Prepare a 9 x 13 inch baking pan with either butter or cooking spray. Set aside.

Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Set aside

Using a mixer, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well between each one to thoroughly incorporate.

Add vanilla and blend well.

Add milk and flour alternately in thirds.

Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Frost if desired.

Smile Ane1There

Thanks for the recipe & the info. I really like looking at the old-school baking recipes. My mom used a book from WAY back, & I now have it.
