I've not used my potato masher in some time, but since I'm doing corned beef and cabbage I thought that I might like mashed potatoes to go with it. I can't find the darned thing. What can I use instead of a potato masher and maybe quicker than using a fork? Thanks in advance.

I use my electric hand mixer.
First break up with fork, add butter and bit of milk and then use the electric mixer. No lumps.

I mash partly with a masher or fork then use my handmixer. If you have a hand mixer, that will give you nice smooth mashed potatoes.

My sister-in-law uses her stand mixer to mash/whip her potatoes.

I have used a glass or jar to mash potatoes. Don't like the consistency with a mixer.

@Tigriss I don’t eat raw eggs...there is a recall on eggs right now for salmonella

Use butter and milk and just your hand held electric mixer.

@dexI probably won't put egg in my potatoes, but it won't be because there's a recall. I'm more concerned with the cholesteral.
I went to read regarding the recall - it didn't affect the eggs I bought yesterday, so that made me happy. AND, the fine print in the article said the company was acting voluntarily out of an abundance of caution. Good moves on their part, but it certainly wasn't sounding as fearful as some of the food recalls we've had over the years.
