I read that it's the caramel -

The OP is correct. Of course, it appears many responders here prefer hysteria an panic to rational thought.

The CDC website doesn't have a list of safe company apples as of today...they specifically say they have not identified the source of contamination yet and it could be the apples themselves. It can take up to 70 days to become sick! It has occurred in 10 states with 5 deaths so far! I wouldn't eat any company's caramel apples until they identify the source of the infection. It's not worth the risk to me and I would feel terrible if someone got sick from an apple that I served them. I have sympathy for the companies who make these apples since this is probably their high volume time of the year.

I wouldn't take a chance....I don't buy them...but if I had ...they would be thrown out and I would ask for a refund...

Okay, I have to chime in here and ask the OP ~ What's with all the capitalization, bold, underlining & excessive exclamation marks? Am I writing to Mrs. Prindable herself perhaps? Highly unlikely. You wrote in this same manner on another thread that I have already commented on. Therefore, I am not going to repeat myself as you obviously are. But I will say this ~ I am not confused as you are referring in your original post. I am concerned as I'm sure many others are on this board. I find the "fear & hysteria" remarks highly insulting. Last time I checked five people have died because of this. Are the refunds people are requesting coming out of your pocket?
And if I may quote you (hope you don't mind), I'll repeat it again! For the love of mud! It's PRINDABLE with an I, not PRENDABLE with an E! There. I don't feel as hysterical now.
