Re: Mrs. Prendable Apples are NOT on the List!!!!!

I would follow CDC guidelines and not eat the apples. QVC will give you a refund. The company has liability insurance I would imagine. Lots of things happen in the food business.

No matter what the company (QVC and Mrs. Prindable) says, why take a chance. No candied apple is worth it.

Re: Mrs. Prendable Apples are NOT on the List!!!!!

It takes quite a while before a person becomes ill. I didn't order any, but had I, they wouldn't be eaten. I would demand a full refund. I do not think a statement from the Q trumps the CDC! Be safe friends!

Exactly. People are educating themselves about this issue - not getting hysterical. And it can take 70 days for symptoms to appear, so "Guess what? NOBODY GOT SICK!!!!!" means nothing.

I completely understand people having opinions that differ from mine, but it's ridiculous to go on a condescending, screaming rant without actually learning the facts.

Commercially produced are ones that are mass produced by machinery and then sent out to stores to sit on the shelves and not the hand dipped ones made elsewhere to order like Mrs Prindables. And yes I think this is turning into mass hysteria here!! I guess some won't ever eat apples or caramel again because it's not know exactly what caused it.

Re: Mrs. Prendable Apples are NOT on the List!!!!!

From the Mrs. Prindable's website regarding listeria dated Saturday

Last Updated Saturday, December 20 4:26pm

We have read the Center for Disease Control report on an outbreak of listeriosis.

We have no reason to believe that our products are not safe to eat. The Mrs. Prindable's brand was not on a list of affected brands nor has any agency contacted us regarding concern for our products. Two suspected brands sold in grocery stores have been identified by the Minnesota Department of Public Health. Our food safety team is monitoring this investigation closely.

Mrs. Prindable's cooks our own caramel from scratch, using the finest ingredients, to strict quality control standards in our own kitchens.

We will provide updates here as new information becomes available.

The OP is correct. Of course, it appears many responders here prefer hysteria an panic to rational thought.

That is par for the course around here.

Mrs. Prindable's are commercially mass produced by the thousands in a factory setting, even if they are "hand-dipped". Their ingredients might be purchased from the same suppliers as the others.
