Have any of you made the now-famous Mississippi Roast?? I am going to try it today, but I admit I bought Aldi's ranch dressing mix & brown gravy mix to save money. Not a fan of peperoncini but I bought a jar for this recipe. I saw the original recipe on Good Morning America the lady said you could sear beforehand, or not (I am going to), and also can salt & pepper meat. I have some smoked salt that I will use. Anyway, will be interested to hear any of your comments.

I've made it several times and my husband loves it. I can't eat meat due to digestive issues, but he said it's the best pot roast ever. I only used the packet of brown gravy as Ranch isn't a favorite and I felt it would make it too salty. The Peperoncini does add a nice layer of flavor so I think you will like it. Hope you like it!!!

I've never made this recipe but I've certainly been intrigued by it. Those peppers are such an interesting and unusual ingredient. The only thing I can say is I would be careful about adding extra salt on your first try with the recipe. The packets have salt and spice and there's nothing worse then ending up with a too salty dish. You can always add some later but can't take it away.
FWIW, this has become my go to roast recipe. And I go very, very light on the spicy seasoning used on the meat before you sear it. I just hate to get things too salty.....or spicy!

Hope your roast turns out delicious!

Well, that link I posted didn't work worth a flip. Ha! Just Google Fireworks Roast and you will find it. Or maybe the link below on YouTube will work. Also, I never seem to find a roast as big as she calls for, mine is usually three pounds or so. Trying again here:

We LOVE Mississippi Mud Roast! I probably make it a couple of times a month. Technically, the MMR calls for an Au Jus packet, not a brown gravy packet. I'm not saying it won't be good, it's just not accurate as the MMR recipe. There's another similar recipe called "Three Envelope Roast" that calls for a brown gravy packet, ranch dressing, and Italian dressing packet. There's water in that one, too - no butter or pepperoncini.
I would caution you about using any additonal salt for seasoning as there is more than enough salt in the dressing and au jus packets. Also, err on the side of too few pepperoncini than too many. I added extra once and it really was too much.

How much do you actually use? I didn't see an amount just a jar of them.
