Is there any fire hazard at all with this item? The only covered space I have is a wooden deck and I'm absolutely terrified of fires. So far we've been waiting for spring.

There is no way that the wood chips could "leak" or "fall" out onto your deck, as they are contained inside the smoker.......The only thing that could get onto your deck, is if you over fill the drip pan, and with the added juices added to this, and they would drain out into the drip tray that is in the back of the smoker........then it is user error.......no fire is involved.......I would only think of a greasy mess, not a fire hazard.......Cool I keep mine in the garage.......as I have a large garage, and just move the jeeps out a bit, and keep the door up...........but honestly, there is very little smoke.......JUST WONDERFUL SMELL........and I would not have a problem having the garage door down, but living where I do, I never have an issue, and always have the garage door open.........So, I never have to move my larger unit, than what they showed yesterday.........{#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I'm sure glad I didn't purchase a smoker. A local restaurant smoked my meat for Christmas. My family and friends ate it, but didn't like it as well as baked meat. I won't be serving smoked turkey or smoked ham or anything smoked again.

I wish someone would smoke my meat.

Perhaps, you would enjoy smoked meat from your own smoker............{#emotions_dlg.laugh} I can tell you, basically there is not a learning curve, it is like the set it and forget mode......and the food is much better with your rubs and such.........and mixing the wood is a wonderful idea......as that is what I do...... Cool I mix my woods, and I have stated before, the next day...........the meat is better than the first day.............{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Totally agree w/ you Forest....no fire hazard. I think I have the best smelling garage in the neighborhood! Since it has been a minus thousand degrees lately, we have used w/ the garage totally shut. There is NO real smoke to speak of! Just mouth watering aroma!

We have dripped the pan on the garage floor...now have a mat underneath. We haven't moved it since the snow came last ...October was it? UGH!

I got DH a really good quality cover. If the snow ever melts and warms up...we will move it then outside and use the cover when not in use. But we have no problems just leaving it in the garage.
