Both Martha's turkey and prime rib were pricey. I can't afford to buy either, I am a widow on a fixed income; but I enjoyed the presentation. Martha uses the best ingriedents. If I could afford either one, I would purchase. I can't so it isn't going to happen. Kansas City Steaks offer a very nice prime rib for less than Martha's. QVC gives us a choice.

I agree, the price is crazy crazy crazy, but some will purchase and have the luxury to afford a 200.00 roast. LUVMYBEETLE...its a free country, YOU POST WHATEVER YOU WANT. People will squack no matter what.

I made a game out of it.

So....her turkey and two sides were $100. Before they showed the price of the rib roast, I guessed it to be $150. When they said $200, I almost lost it.

Then when they showed the pigs in blankets, I guessed $60.00 (figuring I was guessing high...after all, they are just hot dogs wrapped in bread). Haa! $65.00.

Disgraceful is all I have to say about the prices of her food. I look forward to reading the reviews.

I agree. What's the point of posting about what something costs? If you aren't buying it doesn't matter to you; if you are buying, why point it out? It always comes off as making fun of the ones who do buy, for whatever reason. Yes. It's expensive. So is everything Q sells--at least to someone.

And can someone tell why all the kissy face bits with vendors? None of other networks give this crazy gesture on a selling program. Kind of crazy is we went into all our local stores and think each clerk was going to kiss us first.

I am so done with all the kissing between hosts and vendors. Even if the same vendor is on three times they have to kiss again. To me it is awkward, a waste of time, and unprofessional. Like other poster said, we don't kiss the person at the grocery store or behind the perfume counter at Macy's. (I noticed there was no kissing with Martha Stewart.)

Seems like many people are reaching their boiling point over QVCs ever increasing prices. The tipping point was the Martha Stewart Rib Roast. Can't believe the hostess (I believe it was Carolyn) claimed it was a good value. QVC needs to be brought back to reality. Many of their customers are turned off by overpriced goods. I know I turned the station off when I saw the roast. That's no way to keep viewers tuned in. In my opinion, it was a programming gaffe that will haunt QVC because now people are really paying attention to their food prices.

Then just don't buy it. You have a choice. "Outrageous" is a personal judgement. Others may say it's worth it.

from another perspective:

when my husband was alive, he was an attorney. We gave small dinner parties for clients quite often, If I wanted to do a nice dinner for them at home, I might consider spending $200 on the main entree, however, that lifestyle has changed and I would never do it now. $200 would be spent toward a week's worth of groceries for the family, food for 3 cats, and household supplies and still have some money left.

With that said, QVC is also taking a risk with her food. I believe Martha has no risk as she gets her share when QVC buys the product, but in home shopping, one can buy food, eat the whole thing, then call customer service and tell them it was awful and they get a full refund, no need to return anything, So I often wonder if many of the people buying all this overpriced food do that. They get to eat maybe a gourment food product they wouldn't buy locally, and eat for free if they complain about it.

My sister once bought a ham when PD was there a long time ago and called them and said it was so salty no one could eat it. She got all her money back so I know they do that.

Just another opinion here. But I do think they really markup the price of food. I buy the kringles here at Trader Joe's for $7.99 each and QVC charges like $34 for 2.

The price didn't shock me because looking at a roast yesterday (nothing special) and the cost was $32. Steaks are around $17 each. I RARELY buy red meat because I think it's too expensive for what it is.

We wanted to do a crown roast a few years back for Christmas. The cost shocked me. I'm not paying hundreds for something you taste for a few seconds and then poop out a few hours later. Nope.

Can I afford it? Yes. Will I buy it? No. Do I think it's worth the money? HALE no. But that's ME. Every person has their comfort zone regarding spending money and what the item is worth to them in order to spend that money. No opinion is right or wrong.
