Over the past few months the hinged flaps on the lids have broken on a number of my pieces  --  some of these were pretty new, were the large ones, some with handles in the lids.  I now have a whole lot of containers without lids and it is quite expensive to replace them.  What do I do?  Will Lock n Lock replace them free of charge?  Or do I have to pay to have them replaced.  A few years ago I called them re a lid and they were quite unpleasant so I am hesitant to call again.  Any suggestions?

I always wonder how others tabs break off. I've owned tons of L&L containers for the last 10 years (?) I use L&L exclusively. Love them. WIth all the many, many years of using these I've never had a tab break, never. And I'm pretty rough with mine. I can't answer on how to get one replaced but I wonder all the time, while reading this forum, how the tabs break. Woman Frustrated

Well, you are pretty lucky.  I've had two lids that have broken and I don't even put mine in the dishwasher.  My main problem is that they don't fit after awhile.  Again, I don't put them in the dishwasher.  I do, however, live in high humidity. Maybe that's it.  I now buy the ones that look like lock and lock at Walmart.  They last so much longer.

I own a fair amount of lock n lock containers.  One time a container fell out of the freezer and a flap broke as well as the corner of the container.  Thanks to these boards (links included below) I telephoned the company and about 6 weeks later received a new container and lid!

Included below is the old thread from these boards.  Seems breakage is more prevalent when freezing...

The ones I have had for years I have had no problem with the tabs breaking off.  It's only been in the last two years or so.  The hinges just seem very thin and loose.  I've opened brand new ones and the tab came right off in my hand.  So you have been very lucky.

@namaste000 I am curious, did you have to mail the broken one back to L&L before they sent you a new lid?

I have a lot of L&L and only had a few locks break . One when I dropped it from the freezer . I still use it for pantry items that are wrapped. Then another one from the same set cracked . I didn't bother with calling as I figured I would have to pay postage to send it back as with TT's.

Within the past couple years I have had 3 broken lids. I also only handwash ALL my L & L.

I called the ph # posted above.

I had to mail the broken lid back at my expense (it only cost a couple bucks) AND HAD TO HAVE my QVC receipt included with the return.

Within 3 weeks, they mailed me a replacement.

However, I could not locate my receipt for one lid.  My order history did not go back far enough.  QVC CS was unable to get me a copy.  I don't know why.  I have ONLY purchased L & L from the Q, but they sent a form letter they had no record.  I called L & L again, but was told...No receipt, No replacement.

I now CAREFULLY save every receipt from Q that has any kind of warranty.

@carrie40 I have had the same problem with my large round bowls that I use often for storage. 3 of the lids now have 1 or 2  side clasps that have broken off so bowls won't seal. Frustrating to say the least!!!

I've had some that have just plain worn out from constant daily, open and closing.  I don't think they broke off though.  These may be around longer than me.  LOL
