QVC is price gouging for sure.  When I called a customer service representative a few months ago she said the price was set by the distributor !   She didnt even take any blame for the ridiculously bloated price.

Re: Lobster for WHAT?

[ Edited ]

This is Maine's slow season right now. Prices are way down. China is not purchasing lobsters and Canada is flooding the US market. QVC is price gouging for sure. There is no reason why they should be charging the prices they do.

expensive, but it's similar to the prices at a local fish market here.  And it looks to be better than what we have in our local supermarkets.

But wait you can pay for it in 6 Easy Pays.  Smiley LOL  That always cracks me up.  First of all the food is way over priced.  What are the chances that you are still paying for that food on Easy Pay after it is all gone??  I'm guessing it happens a lot.

Why do you say that lobster tails usually do not come from Maine lobsters. Lobster from Maine have tails just like any other lobster and they are sold either with the entire lobster body or as just tails. Of course more Maine lobsters are probably sold on the East Coast because it's less costly to ship. Also, Maine lobster tails also have less meat so those looking for jumbo tails usually need to look elsewhere. Still, they are some of the sweetest you will ever have.

Other than that, the tails usually sold in the supermarket are from the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand and South America.
