DH and I really like these. I usually buy the frozen packages and cook them on the stovetop. As we were eating them tonight I started thinking I've never seen these in one of the quick microwave steam packages.
Have any of you? What brand? TIA! ![]()

Interesting, I don't care for them and I rarely eat any frozen vegetable.

I've had them in succotash in a restaurant. But when I cook them at home, it's in a recipe for a "hot bean" dish that includes limas, kidney beans, and butter beans. I usually buy the cans and rinse well as the recipe calls for cans.

@beach-mom I grew up eating Limas. Mom would usually throw a ham bone in and boy were they good. I've never tried the steam variety. I always buy Pictsweet baby limas and doctor them a little. I like slaw and cornbread with 'em.
I also love crowder peas which remind me of boiled peanuts. My husband unfortunately thinks that crowders taste like dirt (overly earthy I think he means).

I used to buy packages of frozen lima beans to use as much as needed. For the last six months, the bags of frozen lima beans have not been available at the grocery store - and I've missed them so much!
I won't buy anything in cans ever. It's either fresh or frozen. A handful of lima thrown into a soup (or salad) gives it just the right amount of flavor that is needed. With fall weather coming, I've been looking and am going to miss those lima beans in various soups and salads. (sigh)
ETA: I've microwaved these limas for salads many times with delicious results. Sorry, I don't have a package in the freezer or I'd provide the name of the brand.

When they are available, I buy bags of Wegmans frozen limas (for DH, I really don't like them). No special steaming pouch.
I put his portion in a stoneware dish with a lid and microwave for 2-3 mins. I add no water. They turn out great. He likes them with butter so I put that in right after steaming.
Note: My microwave is only 700 watts, so you might try a shorter cooking time if yours is more powerful.

I eat the baby Lima beans . I’ve never seen the kind in steam bags . Have you tried serving them with butter and soy sauce mixed into them ?

We like Fordhook limas. I have bought steam in the bag variety - can't remember the brand - but I like them cooked on the stove stop better. They came out kind of mushy steaming them in the bag.

@Chessa35 - So do we! We usually eat them plain, the way DH likes them. I put a little Smart Balance on mine once in a while. I've never tried fixing them with Shoyu, but we like Kikkoman on anything, so I will!
@FranandZoe - That's probably why you don't see them in the steamer packages- mushy. I never thought about that!
Thanks everyone! ![]()
