I have owned very very many sets of L&L for probably a decade now. I've never had any trouble with leaking, and the only breakage has been because I have dropped a couple of pieces on the concrete when they were frozen.
I purchased my first set of bowls, the ones with the flip flops that look like flowers (sold out in one day, not offered right now), and am so disappointed. They leak like there is no seal. There is a seal, and the tabs lock down, but they don't feel like all my older lock and lock. No tabs to line up, and when you do lock them down, it doesn't really feel very tight.
For those of you who have had the bowls before, is this the way they all are? What happened to the "air tight, water tight" seals these are supposed to have? What good is a bowl that water or liquid pours out of at the slightest tipping?
If the water is getting out, the air is getting in, so not really worth keeping for even dry goods, as they will get stale or let bugs in as well. So not happy. All my L&L is the old standard clear, and was so looking forward to getting something fun looking. Any input on your experiences would help.

Is it possible that you have lost the little silicone seals that are in the tops? If that's not the case, I would return the bowls right away. If you don't still have the original invoice, call CS and explain this to them. They'll send you a return label I am sure.

I agree.

Thanks! The seals are still in place in all lids, and I have washed them in hot water. They are shipped with the lids on, and those seals are compressed for who knows how long, since manufacturing and packaging. I'm hoping that with maybe 24 hours of no pressure (lids off in other words) that the seal may expand and fill the space it is supposed to. I'm going to let them sit overnight, and try everything again.
I just got them today, so I still have everything I need to send them back. They are so cute, and such great sizes, I hope it will work out.
If anyone has any other tips or has dealt with this same thing and figured out how to solve it, please let me know. Hopefully giving the seals some time to expand will help.

I bought some tritan (is that how it's spelled) containers made in Korea which look exactly like L&L. The name on them is something like ""Simply Fresh."" But they are great.

I have probably three sets of bowl which have that similar way of locking (no tabs to line up). I have never experienced any leaking with them.

Are these the ones that Chris Prine turned upside down and held over her head?

Hi Mominohio
I am not sure if this will help or not, but can't hurt to try, it might work. Years ago I had some little rectangular tupperware containers and I could not get the lids to fit no matter what I did, I was going to return them to the person I got them from and they suggested putting both in really hot water to soften them up then while they are still hot, put the lid on and don't take it off until they have cooled off completely it helps them sync up. It worked and now if I find that happening I run them through the dishwasher (didn't have one back then) and when the dishwasher is done, I take whatever needs adjusting out dry it off real quick and put them together. It may not work on all containers, but it did seem to help my warped ziploc lids too. By the way some of the tabs on my lock and locks don't line up well either and you got me thinking about the above idea and I am wondering if maybe the seals are not fully seated in the slot, I have found that sometimes the seals move. I use a butter knife to gently push them to make sure they are properly seated in the lid. If you find a solution, please share.

Great info. I had purchased some brand new but 30 year old Tupperware, and had to do the hot water thing to get the lids to get flexible enough to work on the bases, and I did wash these lock and locks in some hot water, pulled the seals out and then let them rest overnight off of the containers. When I reassembled and filled them with water, they didn't leak!
I left them sit closed up with room temp water in them for 8 hours today, then checked them for leakage again, and they were leaking.
My only conclusion is that the seals are not anywhere as thick as those in my older pieces, and I don't think there is enough thickness in them to properly do their jobs. So sad to send these back, because I've wanted some bowls for so long now, but if the water is getting out, I know air and possibly bugs can get in, so back they go.

I also purchased the bowl set with the flip flop flower pattern. I ordered the blue color and received a confirmation for the blue color but was sent the purple color so I was not happy as I don't like purple. The bowls were a gift for my daughter who also does not like purple. What to do? The sets did sell out. As she has a place at the beach, I gave them to her anyway. I called QVC to complain but to no avail...I would have had to send the purple set back and there would be no blue replacement. Are the people in shipping color blind? As far as Lock and Lock goes, I do love them.
I don't know if the flip flop set leaks, as my daughter has not said anything to me. However, I do have a rectangular set where each piece snaps to the next to create a stack. Those containers do leak because the silicone seal fell out ... impossible to get back in to the channel where they belong. Chris Prime says they are guaranteed for life. I have had them for a couple of years and they always leaked due to the poor fitting seals. Therefore I need to contact Lock and Lock directly so I can return them and get some sort of credit toward another purchase. I wonder what the cost will be for the return. The only other items I purchased from QVC in the Lock and Lock which leak are the pitchers. I bought a set a few weeks ago. The leak is in the pouring spout only...I need to be careful that it does not tip. Again, I really am a huge Lock and Lock fan and will continue to buy the product. Foods of all kind stay so much fresher for longer when stored in Lock and Lock.
