There are way more than 2 bowl sizes - for instance there are 3.5QT, 4.5QT, 5, 6 & 7Qt  and maybe more than that. And different pwered motors to go along with them. I have the 3.5 QT which is perfect for cake mixes and quick breads like zucchini and banana and the 7 QT for double batches of yeast breads and cookies.

 

@soozer You really need to decide what you want to use your mixer for before you buy one.

Mine just up and died a couple of months ago.  Cost too much to repair. Bought a Hamilton Beach, works great for my purposes.  I never made bread dough in the KA since I have always used a bread machine to make the dough then put into my own pans for baking.  So for less than the price of a KA I have a mixer plus a bread machine and that works for me.
