Re: KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you don't bake....

I bake a lot of bread, as well as muffins and pies. I think occasional mixing and kneading give my biceps a little bit of a needed workout.

I have considered getting a stand mixer for bread making, but my bread machine is  good for unattended mixing and kneading.

I think a stand mixer comes in handy if you bake a lot of cakes. You can let the mixer go for a while beating air into the batter. That's tedious if you do it by hand.

Divinity and desserts with whipped cream are other foods that benefit from a stand mixer.

As for meatloaf and meatballs...I've heard that they shouldn't be over-mixed, that ingredients are best mixed lightly with some air included, so mixing by hand is good.

I LOVE the pink stand mixer!! So charming! I would be hard-pressed to get rid of that too.

I've never cared form my KithenAid mixer. Regret getting it. When I got married my Grandmother bought me an Oster kitchen center. It was FABULOUS! But after 45 years it finally gave out. Nothing like vintage appliances.

@GingerHead   I don't bake much anymore but I wouldn't even consider getting rid of my Kitchen Aid stand mixer....to me, it just says 'kitchen and home.' Smiley Happy

@magicmoodz

Yeah, I don't think painted pink stone would look good, although I did paint our ugly brown stone to grey using a faux painting technique so that it still looks like natural stone but in a better color.

  We knew when we bought this home that it wouldn't be our forever home because we want to eventually move out and live more remotely with more acerage and privacy.

We, unfortunately, live in a very expensive area (OR) and we had been looking for a reasonably priced home forever and finally got this great deal on this fixer with good bones and snatched it up, so we're here (been here about 8 yrs)  and do love our home but, like I said it's just not our dream but if we aren't able to find something else we wouldn't be completely heartbroken....the problem right now is, like you not being able to find a nice apartment ...NOTHING is for sale (at least nothing we want...a steal of a deal fixer with land).

Anyway, I hope you can find your dream apartment at some point! Nice chatting with youWoman Happy

@cindyNC

I own a cordless  KitchenAid hand mixer that I bought from QVC when it was a TSV a couple of years ago before that I owned a corded one.

This is the one I own, it appears to be out of stock on QVC.

I really like the flex edge beaters to take right to the pan of cooked chicken to shred it without scratching the pan

Re: KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you don't bake....

I own the Artisan Series KitchenAid stand mixer in matte milkshake color.  I bought it about six years ago when I was making my dog's homemade treats.

The recipe was organic peanut butter, whole grain oats, flour, and mashed apples.  One time trying to mix all that by hand made me get the stand mixer.  I was making them every three days.

But she's nearly 14 years old now and very food intolerant to most food,  She can no longer eat the treats, so I really have no need of the stand mixer anymore.

Still, I think it looks beautiful on my counter, and it just brings a smile to my heart remembering why I bought it in the first place.  I'll never get rid of it.

What a lovely story! I don't blame you for not wanting to get rid of it. I wouldn't either.

I can see how a stand mixer would be just the ticket for mixing dog snacks. Woman LOL

I destroyed a blender making liver brownies. After I transitioned to an old-fashioned hand-crank meat grinder, it was very hard for me to toss out that old grinder after I stopped making dog treats and other food for the old pups.
