KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you don't bake....

Is there any reason that I can't think of to hold onto a big KitchenAid Stand mixer if you don't bake?

I no longer bake at all or very rarely(don't eat simple carbs that much).

Even when I did bake I only used my hand mixer (quicker/easier and gets the job done).

For many many years now I've had a big stand mixer that just sits in storage and takes up space.

So before I sell my pretty pink mixer (I think I bought it mainly because I love the color ) I thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

PS. I shred chicken, whip potatoes, etc with my hand mixer.

I gave mine to a young woman who bakes bread for her church.

I was happy to find someone who was grateful to receive it.

It was too heavy for this 79 year old. I no longer bake.

@GingerHead   I donated mine and it was in great condition. I don't bake anymore, even at  Christmas, and am trying to stay away from high carb foods.

I have not regretted the decision.

I use mine 2 or 3 times a month to make meatballs and meatloaf. It can also shred chicken besides the usual baking recipes.

Re: KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you don't bake....

i have two.....my moms from the 1960s and mine from the 1980s. those things do NOT die and i have not been tempted to give it away. LOL

i mostly use mine for baking. i cannot think of one thing i use it for other than that purpose. BUT, now that i just read about the meatloaf/meatball mixing idea AND the shred chicken idea, i may have to try that out!

which attachments do you use @Ainhisg ?

@GingerHead

I had a beautiful 35 year old KA stand mixer with every attachment offered.

I advertised it on FF and on CL. I sold it the first day and a gentleman who had a restaurant bought it  for $350.00, it was fully loaded.

Some wanted just a few of the attachment, I refused to sell it like that. It was white.

I had taken care of it and it looked new.

I used to make divinity, bread, etc.

It was too heavy for me. I used my KA hand mixer and have the attachments for it.
I'm glad he bought it and had a real use for it.

Your hand mixer is more than enough for the way you cook.

@Longford @piperbay @Ainhisg @sunshine45 @Puppy Galore

Thanks ladies! I think this is what I needed to hear to finally part with it.

@Ainhisg I'm not a meatball maker, so that's another plus for me to sell (good idea , by the way) Isn't shredding chicken with these mixers the best?

I shred it with my hand mixer ( @sunshine45 , using just my regular beaters, saw someone on QVC doing it ( quick and perfect shred).

@piperbay  Glad to hear you have no regrets, that's what I worry about.

@sunshine45  You still have your moms from the 60's? Wow!

@Puppy Galore Well, now I'm seeing money signs! You got some good money for your 35 year old mixer and attachments! $350!

I think you are right about my hand beaters being all I need....you'd think I'd realize that! But I just keep hanging on to that big, heavy, klunky thing for no reason.

@shoekitty

I understand, I love looking at my pretty pink Mixer too but I only see it when I look at it in storage.

Join me in selling it!

I'm selling it and my Vitamix and maybe my cuisinart food processor and my Reformer . Never use those either.

I'm clearing it all out!

Re: KitchenAid Stand Mixer if you don't bake....

I gave mine away. Never used it. For potatoes I prefer a hand mixer.

My mom gave hers away. She also preferred a hand mixer.

A friend sold hers at a garage sale.

They apparently sell very well at garage sales and on Facebook.
