JUNK - Kitchen Shears (Kuhn-Rikon) - Suggestions for New Ones

[ Edited ]

Can someone recommend a good pair of kitchen shears? Nothing super expensive just day to day kitchen usage.

 I fell for the Kuhn-Rikon hype & sales pitch from Mark Charles -- well, they are about 9 months old after cutting all the "supposedly ok" things they are terrible.

edited: I only cut foods and battery packages --  not tin cans, flowers, rugs as shown🙄

Can't even cut a piece of paper let alone a tin can (not that I ever did that) !!

Many years ago I bought a pair from Pampered Chef - Self Sharpening when you put in case.  They have never dulled and still use them.

I'd like to find a pair that is a "workhorse" like these!  Thank you!

@homedecor1  I, too, fell for the Kuhn Rikon shears and they are useless right out of the box. Do they use different shears on TV? Because Mark Charles was cutting up all kinds of stuff.

I have a pair of OXO Good Grips and I like them; I like the handle/grip is comfortable.

I have these and they worked very well, until they didn't. I don't know of any way to sharpen them. I hate throwing things away, but don't know anything that can help these. I would love to find a good pair of kithchen shears also.

@homedecor1

I have used Henckels shears for years. I need heavy duty as I break down chicken, meat etc often so need sturdy and these fit the bill.

A few years ago I bought a 2 pack of Scotch brand (at least that is what is imprinted on one of the blades) at BJ's. They are still working great after much use and many runs through the dishwasher (if used for meat cutting) over the years. I don't remember the exact cost but I know they were not at all expensive.

I love my Cutco kitchen shears, too.  I've had them for probably 25 - 30 years and they do need to be sharpened. I think I'll follow your lead @jackthebear  and send them in for sharpening.
