I see no reason why not. Do you recall what reason the article gave for not freezing bacon? There's so many preservatives that most processed meats have a long life just being refrigerated.

Im single. I freeze it most of the time. I break it up into 4 portions or so and freeze the portions. That way I dont have to thaw out a whole package. Same with hot dogs, ground beef, sausage, kielbasa etc.

@Enufstuff. Yes but anything with a lot of fat loses quality and flavor faster than meat without. I wouldn't freeze it more than 3 months.

@AuntG It was so many years ago, probably 40 or more.
I don't recall a reason being given.

Yes I freeze bacon all the time. DH likes hot dogs and he freezes them too. No problems with taste & quality.

I've been freezing bacon for years. I shrink wrap it with my Food Saver, then freeze it. I put a pound of bacon in a quart-sized bag. I divide it in half, fold each half-pound in half, then stack the 2 halves on top of each other before shrink-wrapping.

Just adding my input with the rest of the group: I have been freezing bacon, hot dogs, sausages, salami, and lots of other meats for years and they always thaw and cook just fine, with no health effects beyond what they were already going to have. ![]()
P.S. I was typing quickly and originally typed "hog dogs," which made me actually laugh out loud, so I had to share...
