Re: Is it okay to freeze bacon?

You can also freeze COOKED bacon...

Make the whole pound...and you only have to clean the pan and stove ONCE!!!!

We do it all the time.  Just make sure they are properly wrapped.  We keep them in the wrapping they came in and they wrap securely and tightly in foil.  Never had any problems at all.

Re: Is it okay to freeze bacon?

Yeah, it's fine. Speaking of bacon, the Acme markets paid me a penny to buy a pound of Oscar Mayer bacon this past week. It's typically $10.99 there, but they had a store sale of $5 off making it $5.99 a pound. Then in their online For You coupons they had a $6 off coupon. The $5 store discount and the $6 For You coupon gave me $11 to buy a $10.99 product.  I got one cent in credit for buying it. Any time they want to pay me to buy bacon, I'm all for it.

[ Edited ]

I don't eat it often or buy it a lot, but have frozen it often...both raw and cooked.

Often I'd make the mess once, cooking it all to a crisp, then bagging up some of it in the freezer to add to salads or eggs or recipes, as needed.

It tastes and holds up just fine.

Unless there's some other reason I don't know of that "they said" it shouldn't be done for? It's fine.

I always read that you shouldn't freeze pork twice.  Have no idea why.  But I would repackage in smaller quantities first.

Re: Is it okay to freeze bacon?

Yes, it is perfectly fine to freeze bacon. No ill effect whatsoever. We buy in bulk. Take our purchases and place them in serving sizes. Vac them with our FoodSaver and into the freezer they go.
If you don’t have a FoodSaver take your bacon out if it’s store packaging. Put it into what serving sizes fit your family. Double Wrap in plastic wrap then put in air tight container. Will last for quite a long time.

Re: Is it okay to freeze bacon?

I have been frezzing bacon for years with no issues. I cut bacon packages of bacon in to three packages and I either pay it in a freezer bag or I vacuum seal bacon . comes out grate.Good luck.

I don't do bacon, but DIL freezes hers.   I think she divides it into portions first.  So far the grands are still alive 😂
