Have not watched this show in years. Was surprised how it has changed! Does David ever cook anymore? All I saw was a lot of gimmicky things.

It never was a 'cooking' show - selling pots & pans and gadgets hasn't changed. Vendors or the Q kitchen staff provide beautiful dishes of food to show what that product ...can do for you.

@Group 5 minus 1 when was ITKWD ever a cooking show? I've never seen David cooking, at least not in the 10 years I've watched.
He flips and stirs and presents food that the food stylists have prepared, so he can sell kitchen items. Even his quick recipe segments aren't actually cooking.

I don't think he ever cooked much on this show. It's certainly not the same type of program that the show was with host Bob Bowersox (pre-David Venable). Bob was always cooking on his show.

Since he keeps writing cookbooks it seems he would cook on the show.

@Group 5 minus 1 I have watched David's cooking shows from their inceeption when he replaced Bob Bowersox.
He often presents a recipe at the beginning of his show that uses a product that will be for sale--like a particular pan--but it is not a long cooking demo such as you would find on Food Network. There is a theme for the recipes for the month, too. For May I think it is picnic basket food recipes.
But it is definitely NOT a cooking show but rather a show to sell kitchen and food items.
Hope this helps.

He has made it abundantly clear many MANY times he is not a chef he is a home cook like we all are.
He sells cookbooks because they sell. I think that is pretty much the bottom line.
I personally prefer the gadgets to all the cooking. His was never a cooking show it was a kitchen show. Cooking doesn't really sell anything and since this is a sales channel there in lies the difference.
Comparing David to Bob is apples to oranges. I much prefer David.

Hasn't been a cooking show since Bob left. QVC used to have cooking shows. And they actually sold pots and pans and things to cook with.
Now it's gadgets. And fan products of the host. And Tara and lock n lock.
