Hi spix, yes I looked it up and they show both sites, the Lakewood, CO one and the Illinois one, so I would assume same owners. It's such a great place, have lots of fond memories there. Boy do I miss that chicken!
Thanx Jules, I knew it sounded too much the same not to be, I think at one time they were owned (maybe still) by Sen Hastert or his family

Sen. Hastert? I didn't know that.

Back in the 1960s a local PA businessman started a small restaurant called Farmer's Best and his feature meal was Broasted Chicken. This was the first time anyone in our area had heard of chicken prepared that way. It soon became a huge hit. Several years later, he sold the restaurant and built a new one called Country Cupboard.
His children and grandchildren now own the restaurant and they still serve the Broasted Chicken from his original recipe. They serve relish, pumpkin muffins and homemade rolls with each meal and offer two sides to every entrée. Their desserts are delicious. They also have a buffet and it always includes broasted chicken among many other entrees offered. The restaurant has expanded several times and now has a number of gift shops, bakery, greenhouse, etc.

Love White Fence Farms in Romeoville, they are owned by 2 different families (no connection), the one in Romeoville, IL is owned by Sen Hastert's nephew, his mother does host there sometimes.

I wouldn't believe one word from the PETA website - they're a bunch of lunatics who do absolutely NOTHING for animals - strictly a political organization.
Down off my soapbox - now, then, on the rare occasion we indulge in fried anything, it's got to be Popeye's. You can get it either spicy or mild. Love their cole slaw also.

here in Texas, it's Babe's fried chicken; they serve it family-style with big bowls of fresh veggies and rolls

We don't have any restaurants that serve fried chicken here. I guess it's not the thing. I haven't seen it in ages.
I do love it with mashed potatoes though.

ITA!
I LOVE southern fried chicken, but very rarely have it - even at home. The one place I've had really good fried chicken isn't anywhere near us - Good 'N Plenty in the Lancaster area!

On occasion my husband will bring home a bucket of KFC. I never touch it but maybe once a year grab a breast and pull the skin off. I must admit I like their potatoes, biscuits and gravy. He loves the stuff but it's probably only about three times a year. We never order fried chicken in a restaurant nor do I make it. I am more of a seafood or steak person when we eat out.
