When I was a kid, my parents would take me to Giffords Ice Cream Parlor in Bethesda, MD on Saturday for ice cream soda in the tall glass.  I'll never forget but do not remember my favorite flavor ice cream.  We would go to the counter and pick out the kind of ice creams from the tubs for the soda.  Then we would take a carton home.  Today, my diet restricts certain items and I could not make this kind of float but I use substitutes to try to achieve something divine.  Reading your comments is bringing back wonderful memories...
