I put Curtis Stone skillets in dishwasher

I like to clean our eating utensils and dishes through the dishwasher. I figure it kills bacteria. I even used to put some of my son's toys through the dishwasher.

So I decided to run 2 Curtis Stone skillets through the dishwasher. Big mistake. The paint is now chipping on both skillets.

Just wanted to post that and maybe prevent someone from making the same mistake I did.

I've always done all my pots and pans by hand, using very hot water and dish detergent.

Forum is a bit goofy today. Forgive me. Heres my point: the drying cycle is the worst for dishes and pans, etc. That may be the reason for the chipping and flaking.

I also put my pots & pans in the dishwasher.  However, I ALWAYS use the AIR DRY option.

I guess I have been lucky, I always put my Curtis Stone in dishwasher.  I have never had a problem.

I never put any pan in my dishwasher that claims to make the pan Non Stick.  Only my stainless steel pot goes in the dishwasher.  Everything is hand washed.

I have a Curtis Stone skillet which after 2 years of use is starting to show wear.  I could see how a dishwasher would cause damage.

I have a Circulon nonstick professional set from Costco-- dishwasher safe, and I use it more often than any other nonstick because it  does go through the dishwasher perfectly.

I do not use the air-dry function and never dared to put any other nonstick in the dishwasher.

My Curtis Stone large everyday pan gets a lot of use, too, and has begun to show some chipped paint, just from being knocked around a bit, I guess. Never has been put in dishwasher.

Heavy Duty

Hi-Temp Scrub

That is probably the reason. Guess now I know not to do that again.

Re: I put Curtis Stone skillets in dishwasher

I just wrote to his company as I had brought from HSN  his set of 3 mini baking pans loved them till now.,Always hand wash.I'm the dishwasher..

The other night made a piece of salmon and when I went to get it off pan seemed to be sticking never before. After hand  washing and  it needed to soak awhile  the  red pan was so discolored seem like streaks of beige not red anymore.

They wrote back and said your pans are only 1 year warranty, have them probably just over a year.,have to check into that.

I would like to know where the red  color went into my food?

Think I will be investing in baking mats now for my other pans from Curtis Stone.,and will never buy color pans again.
